I worked at Lionsgate part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Nice, laid back atmosphere. Friendly group of people to work with.

    Cons

People tend to stay at thier jobs for a long time. Many executive positions, with little opportunities for lower level employees to move up.

  5. "As a temp, Lionsgate has a great environment, but no hiring prospects"

I worked at Lionsgate as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

    -Very friendly people/warm environment
-Open floor plan (to some that may be a con)
    -Small environment
    -Accessible via Expo Line train

    Cons

HR seems highly disinterested in hiring temps despite many of them having great track records and internal support - from my research, it's cheaper to pay temp agency fees than to post ads and do all the screening themselves. HR clearly sees temps as collateral (or they're not willing to pay temp agency fees) and not as people who can help push Lionsgate into the future. I had interviews with HR which felt perfunctory and their attitudes suggested they could care less about hiring me.

Also, I think they're too focused on the bottom line to realize they're missing out on some great people.

    Advice to Management

HR needs to treat temps with much more respect and consider hiring frequent temps that have a consistent work ethic. And not everything needs to revolve around the bottom line.

    I worked at Lionsgate full-time

    Pros

Small-ish sized company(at least compared to the bigger studios), which is a plus. This means that teams are smaller, and you get to learn a lot of different things. Back in the day, the In-n-Out truck came by during the summers and there was the basketball tournament every summer as well. Some cool perks, but not nearly as many as at other places.

    Cons

Learn what you can, and get out. Completely depends on which department you're in, but not much room for growth. The people who have been there since the original LG days are there to stay.

    Advice to Management

Put all the trash cans back at individual desks.
