    Pros

People! - We have the best people working in our stores and Store Support Centers. I love the genuine friendships throughout our organization.
Training - We have great training programs for our associates at all levels of the organization. My personal favorite is the wine training - great job perk!
Advancement - Many of our Store Managers started out as Sales Associates and have found a career with us.

    Cons

As with all retail positions, we work the most during holidays when lots of other people are taking vacation.

    Pros

Liquor Stores, North America is the parent company of brands such as Liquor Barn, Liquor Depot, Brown Jug, and Wine & Beyond. We are all about enhancing life's celebrations as North America's largest publicly traded retailer of adult beverages operating 240+ retail locations within Alberta, British Columbia, Kentucky and Alaska...and we are growing!

    Cons

Retail and Customer Service can be challenging sometimes with no shortage of hard work, but it's also very exciting and rewarding!

I worked at Liquor Depot part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

If you want to get into retail, they will give you a chance, and even let you open the store by yourself in short order.

    Cons

I explained my schedule when I was interviewed, but they kept scheduling me when I said I couldn't work. The bosses can't stand to see anyone idle, so they come up with some inane busy work.

I have been working at Liquor Depot full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Employee discount is good.
Always extra hours if you want them and are willing to go here and there.
    Always something to do

    Cons

Sometimes slightly understaffed and always extra hours available so no reason to not work and earn more money

    Advice to Management

Maybe have store support employees and such actually have to spend a week or so in the stores dealing with customers and day to day dealings so they have a better idea of what does and doesn’t work

I have been working at Liquor Depot part-time

    Pros

Easy (you earn consummate with what little work you do), management is easy going and understanding, liquor discounts, and hours are reasonable

    Cons

Can get boring, it's retail, policies involving discounts and procedure can be a bit draconian and nonsensical.

    Advice to Management

Good luck trying to deal with head office. They're a tad out of touch.

I have been working at Liquor Depot full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

My manager and area manager appreciated my hard work, and soon I was offered a management position. I was asked for ideas, which they implemented, and I was given the liberty and trust to work my department (wine) the way I thought it was best. Sure, I made mistakes, but with correct coaching from my manager we tweaked it and made it work.
In general, the people in this company are awesome, and I am happy that I have made friends. Everybody's fair and just.
There's absolutely no racism/sexism/discrimination. I actually came out publicly for the first time in my life. As a former oilfield worker, I appreciate that a lot.
Both my former and current managers tried their best to accommodate my occasional medical appointments etc. Of course, being punctual is requested and greatly appreciated. I've been late once, but I called half hour ahead and explained the reason.

    Cons

Coming from the energy sector, I knew that I wouldn't make $30/hour.
As an associate, I made MW+ at the beginning. I worked hard, I earned a raise, and kept going so I can become an assistant manager and participate in the bonus plan. But honestly, it's the first time in my life I get up in the morning and I'm excited about going to work.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work. Communicate with your staff all the time, be fair, and make sure they're happy. Keep them busy, responsible and accountable.
