I worked at Little Flower Children and Family Services of New York (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Nice place to work, family oriented. The company cares about their employees. No issues with taking time off as long gone as you have the time.

    Cons

The workload can be overwhelming at times. Medical insurance is a little high.

    Advice to Management

Pitch in and help employees who are overwhelmed due to employee shortage.

I worked at Little Flower Children and Family Services of New York full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Little Flower has some very dedicated employees and some great supervisors. Helping children and families in the foster care system is rewarding.

    Cons

Little Flower has some very careless, sloppy, and unethical workers and supervisors. Because caseloads are so high - thanks to ACS - workers would duplicate notes and their supervisors wouldn't notice.

    Advice to Management

Invest further in training and support for your case planners, because good employees burn out and lazy employees stay on, providing mediocre service to families who desperately need good, caring advocates and workers.

I have been working at Little Flower Children and Family Services of New York part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Rewarding when you get through to a child and they have fun and really start to build a connection.

    Cons

Very Lengthy hiring process(if you fail the test after training you don't get paid for the 20-30 hours of work and class you put in)
Job can take you out of your comfort zone and take advantage of you for not knowing any better about situations
Will leave you out of ratio and understaffed
Children can try to get you in trouble legally a lot(not the company's fault but for the low pay it's not really worth it)

    Advice to Management

More present supervision and higher pay.

    Pros

The positive impact you have within the families lives you are serving. Being a support system for the parents, and interacting with the children.

    Cons

Lack of training, these are people's lives, adequate training should be provided, unappreciative of social workers, burn out .

    Advice to Management

Develop a better company culture, do not belittle your employees, or have them responsible for tasks that should be completed by upper management .Management should really take the time to obtain and develop as supervisors. Telling your workers that theyre irreplaceable, when you havent been an effective leader or provided guidance.

I worked at Little Flower Children and Family Services of New York full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    The benefit package was soils.

    Cons

Upper management were terrible. During my time there I saw people doing there best work being disrespected and demoralized. Contracted agencies treated poorly. Never in my life have I ever seen Directors treat their staff in such a way. Work place bullying at its best. I'm glad I left, no regrets. Last I checked no change in management... shame.

    Advice to Management

Listen to the concerns of your staff....
