I worked at Littman Jewelers part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good management and teamwork, at least at the store I was at.

    Cons

    It's corporate.
The computer systems/intranet are slow and felt ancient.

I have been working at Littman Jewelers full-time

    Pros

Pretty good place to work. Good benefits. Put in the effort

    Cons

sometimes those retail hours are too long. Commission structure is only one percent guaranteed

    Advice to Management

listen to people in your stores, not everyone at the higher levels has all the answers.

I have been working at Littman Jewelers full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

It's a job with health benefits and a contributing 401K

    Cons

Really sketchy new commission structure.... Not a single individual in the entire company can answer a question about it.... Everyone has a different answer....

    Advice to Management

Stop hiring Cheerleaders.... They have no answers..
Find some quality personnel who know how to answer questions.

I worked at Littman Jewelers full-time

    Pros

Fair pay and a nice work environment. Stores are really pretty and get remodeled when needed.

    Cons

Lots and lots of hours. Not a great work/ life balance.

    Advice to Management

Allow management staff to work a more fixed schedule so the extra hours aren't so difficult if you want a life.

I worked at Littman Jewelers full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Fun environment. Good discount. Fun trips if you make presidents club

    Cons

Regional manager out of touch. Goals high but achievable with experience. No opportunity to move up with the company. Good performance goes unnoticed by upper management- just sets higher expectations. No balance with ecommerance- compete against internet. Malls slowly dyeing

    Advice to Management

Look and listen to what's really happening in the store. Be a leader not a dictator

I have been working at Littman Jewelers full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Discount on jewelry and finally not being there

    Cons

Kroger is a horrible company and they now own Littman's as well as Turkey Hil! WTF does a grocery chain know about running a jewelry chain? They also lie to sales associates about commissions.....they tell you you can get a 3% commission if you hit your sales goals but they make the goals so high that you cannot. The pay is low and they expect you to live your life around their jobs. Store Managers and Sales Associates are UNPROFESSIONAL

    Advice to Management

FIre Bad Managers......Train & Coach Staff Correctly......Make Sales Goals Attainable to Prevent Low Morale.......Stop having your Website compete with you stores! If you hire someone for a Position........don't get rid of the position and expect the person to go from Admin to Sales!

I worked at Littman Jewelers full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Seemed like a great company... until they cut commission more than half, placed more focus in their Kroger marketplace locations than the mall locations. Operated on KROGER values, a jewelry store following a grocery store key value was hard.

    Cons

Commission cut by more than half, also there wasn't a clear or direct way to move up in the company and the upper management didn't offer advice.

    Advice to Management

Make a clear ladder to follow for advancement in the company, promote more from within to hold your success.

    Pros

Company has excellent benefits. Stock options, 401k, amazing health insurance. Advancement is possible, although politics and appearances will play a role, not always your skill level or experience.

    Cons

Every location is run differently. Some managers are terrible, some are excellent. Most fall in between. Some are lazy, some work hard. Client cultivation and retention is not as important as it used to be, the push is for "make the sale NOW" whether or not it is the best option for the customer. Our location has lost most of our repeat clients, people who were loyal for YEARS. Employees and their attitudes MAKE the company. Customers feel more "nickeled and dimed" then ever, and I have been told as much by more than a few clients. A short term "loss" can be a long term gain, with additional referrals to boot.

    Advice to Management

For the Regionals, listen to ALL location employees. Hear them out before you start shooting them down or making excuses. Especially the ones that have been with the company a long time. Also, when we loose just one long term client, we have lost an anniversary purchase, a birthday purchase, a holiday/special occasion purchase AND "word of mouth" advertising. Push people to write those "thank you" cards and keep in touch the regulars. If they don't feel special, they don't come back. If you can't accommodate special circumstances, they will find a jeweler who can.

I have been working at Littman Jewelers full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Excellent work life balance for a retail Assistant Manager, as the position is hourly with no OT required. Lots of financing options, great prices and the best Care Plan makes selling the jewelry easy. Quality marketing, props, store interiors and packaging you can be proud of. Fabulous discount! Allows some tattoos and piercings. Good benefits, pay, commisions and incentives.

    Cons

Retail mall hours and schedules suck, of course. However, our store DID close on Thanksgiving despite our mall being open. My Manager schedules very fairly.

    Advice to Management

Please consider revamping the operational systems surrounding repair processing to reduce the amount of time this task requires. Customers desperately want us to adopt a computerized system to record LJCP inspections...perhaps an app?
