    Over-rated & Under-Payed

Dec 9, 2015 - Anonymous Employee in Houston, TX

    Pros

If your a music head like me you'll love the free show perks. Some room for growth depending upon the department. Exposure to real industry experience. Good networking opportunities.

    Cons

Cult-like, takes a while to join. No flexibility, long work hours. be prepared to not have a life lol The pay and benefits are embarrassing. minimum wag I went from part-time to full-time so I saw both sides. My experience was a bit rough because I transitioned while 3/4 core staff members resigned/ got fired. Pretty alarming for a newbie. I held LN to such a high standard b4 jumping on board but the flame is much smaller now.:( Formal training has to be like pulling teeth. I learned more from making mistakes because I wasn't taught how to do everything properly. I prefer being ahead of the curve if you know what I mean. Avoid the mistake. i was so excited to learn and work and grow but .. Upper management is fluff. Unfulfilled promises, not hands on, just middle men. All men majority of the time. old outdated ticketing systems and methods of business. You'd think they'd be alot more advanced with technology. Holiday parties/ celebrations are cheap. no end of year review, farewell speeches, bonus, or toast.

    Great Place to Work!

    Pros

The staff at Live Nation is a great bunch of people. Management is easy going and personable and there is a real drive to keep everyone upbeat and cohesive. Hours are great, especially if you're a night person and the opportunities to see all different types of live entertainment makes going to work an adventure. There are opportunities to move upward if you can prove yourself and they are very flexible about lateral moves and sharing staff between departments. If you show an interest in learning the business, they are happy to accomodate. Major changes have taken place in the last few years and it just keeps getting better. Even part time employees are offered an insurance option.

    Cons

At the outdoor venues, weather can be really awful. Security staff isn't always on the same page with the venues' rules and needs but that's not the fault of Live Nation.

A bunch of idiots running this company.

    Pros

    Looks good on your resume.

    Cons

Upper management runs things based on their egos and have no clue how to run a profitable business. They will be out of business within 5 years.

    A complete waste of potential

Nov 9, 2015 - Anonymous Employee in Beverly Hills, CA

    Pros

Looks good on a resume. And you learn about what not to do. Professional networking is all there for you. Free tickets are cool if you're in your twenties especially.

    Cons

Out of control fraternity-like atmosphere of a top heavy executive leadership structure. The small middle management personnel get stretched way too thin and burned out time and time again. A lot of buck passing of responsibility. Tons of backstabbing. No sense of company vision or purpose due to ego games. A lot of unqualified people with no passion for music who got jobs they don't deserve through favoritism and nepotism. Terrible communication due to inner competition. Growth opportunities only given to those inside the right social circles. Many sexist executives who openly degrade the female gender. HR simply a tool of the executives and therefore there is no accountability for the company's upper class. Work life balance for many is atrocious, while only a few feet away there are people who roll into work at 11am and surf Tinder half the day. A complete misappropriation of millions of dollars of operating budget. This company deserves to fail as of right now. Ticketmaster's cash flow fills in a lot of holes and allows many problems to fester unnoticed. Michael Rapino is a very intelligent man but he needs to get more involved with the chaos that is ensuing below him, before he gets held responsible for it. I'm sure he has a lot on his plate steering a publicly traded company, but Rapino needs to find the time because the guys below him are taking the place for a joy ride that cannot sustain itself forever. Rapino has the money these artists want to get their hands on, these executives therefore aren't as irreplaceable as they act. Currently an operation that needs some serious leadership and some significant cleaning up. Stay far away. It's sad, because on paper it's a dream job, which quickly turns into a nightmare.

    Pros

The biggest music and entertainment promoter on the planet. Plenty of opportunity to be entreprenurial and build a book of business. Lots of very passionate people who are excited to be working in and around the music industry.

    Cons

Lots of pressure from above and occasional favoritism by management that can create 'competition' between colleagues.

Good experience if you don't stay too long

Feb 12, 2014 - Marketing Coordinator in Hollywood, CA

    Business Outlook

    Pros

Lots of perks-- free concert tickets, really cool office with a nice break area, schedule was very flexible, laid back environment, casual dress and an opportunity to network with other music industry professionals

    Cons

Lack of any structure, no training whatsoever, upper management was frankly incompetent. A lot of favoritism... it was very obvious who was liked by management and who wasn't. Extreme lack of communication. New positions constantly being created, combined or eliminated so nobody ever knew what their role was.

    Awful Culture

Oct 19, 2012 - Vice President of Technology in Los Angeles, CA

    Business Outlook

    Pros

If you're a senior executive you enjoy excellent compensation and a great degree of autonomy.

    Cons

If you're not a senior executive management will squeeze you for every dime they can. The culture is to separate executives from the day-to-day staff and create an us-vs-them culture.

    Extremely Poor Management

Feb 2, 2021 - Anonymous Employee in London, England

    Business Outlook

    Pros

Obviously if you love music... it's great!

    Cons

This is the only company that I have ever worked for where you truly feel like you are bottom of the chain. People were clearly frustrated with one another with no want or drive from senior management to sort things out. No team atmosphere, low morale, no one speaks to you, rude emails. VERY poor communication from management ESPECIALLY during furlough. No introduction to the business when I joined and nothing when I had to leave. There have been some brilliantly talented people that were an absolute asset to the company that they let slip through the net due to lack of management or caring about their staff! A shame they can't recognise it! Look after your staff and they look after you - oldest and easiest rule in the book!

    Terrible Upper Management

    Oct 28, 2021 - Senior Accountant
    Recommend

    Business Outlook

    Pros

My co workers are the only good thing left about this company

    Cons

Upper management is money hungry and refuse to give back any 'perks' they took away during the pandemic. We can't even get free tickets like we did pre covid and they won't give anyone raises unless you have another job offer.
