I worked at LiveOps as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

Nice to work your own schedule. Great to work from home. You read scripts. Decent training

    Cons

Not enough choices. Predominantly incoming infomercial calls that you then have to upsell 5 things on the end line and deal with aggravating the customer. you can apply to work for some specialized lines but most of the time you get nothing.

I have been working at LiveOps (More than a year)

    Pros

It is very flexible. You are basically your own boss. No one will tell you when you can and can't work. You can schedule hours exactly when you want to.

If you are looking to schedule 10 hours of work for one day, for example, you could work 5 hours in the early morning and 5 hours in the evening so that during the day, you can do whatever else you need to do.

You will never have to request time off to go on vacation, maternity leave, etc.

    Cons

You can literally work at anytime throughout the day or night, scheduled or unscheduled, BUT if you are the type of person who prefers to schedule hours because you don't have a lot of extra free time, they are not always available. Hours are available to be scheduled at very specific times during the week. If you aren't there to schedule your hours, you probably just won't have any until the next week. The pay can be very unstable. Also, there is no employee compensation or benefits.

In addition, if you do inbound/outbound sales as an independent contractor with LiveOps, be prepared to be "demoted" so to speak back to basic customer service calls. That's not necessarily a bad thing, but doing sales usually earns more money. The requirements that need to be met in order to keep doing sales seems to be obscure. Even when they actually are clearly defined, LiveOps is not always very specific on what you did wrong and you can be dropped you from sales calls at anytime, without notice.

    Advice to Management

Have more live classroom training sessions. Don't just kick people off the sales lines. Give a few warnings first and inform agents in what area they need to improve on. Set up more days where hours can be scheduled.

I have been working at LiveOps as a contractor (More than 10 years)

    Pros

I have been with liveops for 10 years. The best thing I love about this company is the flexibility. If you have children or a second job you can schedule yourself accordingly based on your lifestyle and daily plans. No need to ask the boss for a day off or to come in late from a doctor's appointment. ..you call the shots. Also no taxes are taken out of your check so literally its what you see on your invoice is what you get.

    Cons

The downside is certain line groups you work may not be very lucrative financially. Line groups with sales from informercials have an excessive amount of upsells and affinities. The agent literally is stressed out continously trying to convince the customer it is in their best interest to listen to a bunch of malarkey that they don't want and didn't ask for. If affinity scores are low, forget about making a decent invoice to turn in. Best bet is to apply for or hope you get chosen for a line group with no affinities. Eventhough I have been working with this company for a long time, sometimes after taking a call with a long script and upsells and an angry customer, I feel bad for the new agent because I know what they are going through. You are literally hesitant to offer upsells for fear you will get yelled at by the customer or they may cancel the order which in turn lowers your conversion. Best advice: if sales is not your cup of tea, this will be a run for your money.

    Advice to Management

Give the "little people " a break. All we get is a paycheck. Nothing more nothing less. No benefits or nothing. Increase the pay structure. Put yourself in our shoes for once instead of being happy your are not in them.

I worked at LiveOps (Less than a year)

    Pros

working from home, working hours of my choosing, reliable pay

    Cons

no benefits as a 1099'd agent, can't make much more than supplemental income, not enough calls/too many agents

    Advice to Management

allow some warning before terminating account with regard to volume of calls taken vs. needed, etc. giving IA a chance to work more hours to maintain contract, instead of making us start all over.

    Great company to work for

    Cons

Job description not provided, duties of daily job changed but pay didn't.

    Advice to Management

Review employee jobs and pay a wage that complies with job responsibilities. Seems only employees that receive a decent pay are those that are promoted repeatedly and get director or manager in their title. Advance notification of No Bonus this quarter or No Raises this year should be notified prior to employee expected date rather than after the fact or on the day.

I worked at LiveOps part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Freedom to work when you want from your own home.
Not having to have an LLC, like other telecommute jobs require before getting started.

    Cons

The initial set up can be confusing.
Working your way up & having more choices to work thru takes some time.
Getting help isn't very easy, so you should be somewhat computer savvy to be able to figure things out on your own.

    Advice to Management

Being more accessible to get help would be very helpful.
Allowing more opportunities from the get go would also be more enticing.

I have been working at LiveOps as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

Choose your own hours and choose the type of calls you want to support.

    Cons

The company does not provide technical support.
Independent agents have to rely on advice from other independent agents advice that is loaded into a help data bank called Athena.
The company's servers must be getting old, can't verify this because it is very difficult to speak with anyone with knowledge of the servers and the configuration requirements.
The company utilizes Java in their My Schedule application in order to post the hours that you are available to work. I have been trying to for over a week to get this program to work and have had no luck. I downloaded multiple sets of instructions and carefully went through all of them and still could not resolve the communications error.
The company advises agents to load a previous version of Java that is not longer supported to align with their servers. This puts a lot of risk on the independent agent. The risk is based upon Java being utilized by hackers to gain access to systems. A known security risk with older versions of Java is the POODLE virus.

    Advice to Management

Provide IT support. I venture to guess that the majority of people that choose to be independent agents for LiveOps do not have deep pockets that allow them to hire IT professionals that can troubleshoot Java issues.
