    I worked at Liverpool Central School District full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Teachers, Administrators and all staff are highly competent and professional. The district operates as a learning community that values every member and functions as a team. All staff are current in best practices in education and strive continuously to improve and innovate.

    Cons

    Wish I were younger and I would have worked there another 10 yrs. The only con would be that more resources are needed for the classrooms so that students could have more individual attention regarding family and personal struggles.

    Advice to Management

    Stay focused on excellence as it has served the district well. The Superintendents have always planned and made decisions in the best interest of the students with the resources available. The leadership team was always willing to go the extra mile to secure funds from available sources.

    I have been working at Liverpool Central School District (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Teaching is about teaching. You do not have to worry about discipline. The students are very polite and have had many positive educational experiences to build on. One can focus on using the very best strategies to help maximize learning and making learning fun.

    Cons

    It is difficult to get hired as a permanent teacher. Subbing pays less than SCSD.

    Advice to Management

    In general, keep up the great work! Please consider paying subs more money.

    Pros

    great hours, above average pay, outstanding benefits, good working conditions. Time off is more then sufficient for working parents. 15 sick days, 5 personal days, plus school breaks, summers, and holidays.

    Cons

    limited opportunities for advancement, constant public commentary about school district, annual fear of job elimination. Public education enviornment can be "clickey" and older staff members often openly criticize younger staff members about their performance while they do more gossiping then actual work

    Advice to Management

    hold people accountable for their performance. too many times tenured teachers are allowed to skirt policy, while hourly folks are continuously hounded.

    Pros

    Guaranteed 40 hours a week, very flexible scheduling, always contacts you first about rehiring for the next summer before they hire more.

    Cons

    The job was largely landscaping based and the pay was well under market value for that line of work.
