Working for this company was a very enjoyable experience.

    Pros

This company is based in Bristol, but it is run by teachers and takes students from all over the world of language homestays. Highly-professional yet highly-approachable and supportive owner and senior-team. All teaching materials supplied. Training and support supplied if required. Treated as a professional. I was very impressed with their high-standards. It was lovely to host students in my home too.

    Cons

None really. You have to be on-hand most of the time when hosting, so you can't really go anywhere for very long periods during the homestay. This is not really a con, as you can easily plan for it.

    Horrible environment

    Pros

Nice building Free fruit Good pay Mainly lovely colleagues

    Cons

The good things like the fruit and standing desks are just a publicity stunt to show off to visitors and customers. There is no genuine care for employee well-being. Everyone is a manager with no management responsibility or decision making allowed - more publicity. Nobody is valued and there is no progression. No bonus or recognition of very hard work at busy times. Decisions change all the time so you can't work properly and need to always ask the owner (so she knows and controls EVERYTHING). If you do something, even a small thing, without checking your life will be miserable. Really miserable. Job descriptions and company descriptions are very misleading. There is no HR department and the visiting HR consultant can't or won't help or support. It is true that staff are expected to work in tense silence, conversations and phone calls are listened to by the owner/principal ("what were you talking about? Tell me") and all emails are read by the same. The whole paranoid 'thought police' environment is so bad for the health of the employees. Friendships between employees are not liked. My advice is not to think twice but to think a hundred times and don't be fooled by the decent pay and extras.

    Pros

Great team, most people are so lovely to work with . Good pay

    Cons

Management issues - controlling, disrespectful, petty. Silent tense work environment Unfortunately good pay makes it like being owned Lack of motivation from management, and never a valued employee No progression available Will contact you at weekends, regardless.
