I worked at LivingSocial (More than a year)

    Pros

    - This was an awesome gig when LivingSocial was still being witty and clever with creative deal copy. Not so much anymore.
    - Worked with a great editor and enjoyed the fast pace and high standards for good copy
    - It was fun, flexible and remote. This was a place where a writer could actually benefit from having a sense of humor. This is hard to find! I loved it while it lasted.

    Cons

    - Pay was low for freelance writers (definitely can't be your only gig)
    - They took creative in house and didn't need freelancers anymore with less creative deal copy model. Insert sad face.
    - Their way of parting with dedicated, long-term freelancers could have been a tad nicer. It was literally: K bye
    - Daily deals aren't really cool anymore ... they had their moment.

    Advice to Management

Thanks for the fun while it lasted. Best of luck to you!

I have been working at LivingSocial (More than a year)

    Pros

LivingSocial cares. You see a lot of old media, but working here has been the best move for my career and future. Through all of the changes, I have been given opportunities and new responsibilities I would never have been given before. If you asked me a few years ago if I would be where I am today, I couldn't have imagined it. The culture has taken a great turn from where it was, and I a feeling the team spirit in ways I haven't seen. The communication has been great and improving, transparency has been very apparent, and the senior team is very engaged with their teams now...way more than ever before. We have regular team standups, biweekly all hands, and regular emails from the company. Beyond day to day life, the work life balance is great. I have ability to work from home if I need to and the benefits and choices for healthcare are fantastic. The best thing about LS though is definitely the people. I love my team, my manager and my colleagues. Coming to work is fun. The turnaround has been amazing in the last 2 years.

    Cons

Sometimes, I feel like I have taken on too much new responsibility. Exhaustion sets in every once in a while.

    Advice to Management

Keep bringing back the boom. It feels good to see the management engaged and working with their teams everyday. I love having our leader sit with our department. The senior team is readily available always, and it's been great getting to know other departments. Spirit Week was so much fun---keep having events where we can get to know each other!

    I worked at LivingSocial full-time

    Pros

Great people and very supportive team culture. Very friendly environment.
Great benefits, gym, 401k, good insurance plans. Very central office location-easy to commute. Good salary if you negotiate and have a good experience to offer.
Good place to begin your career and to get some working experience.

    Cons

Not always clear about the direction where the company is going.
Communication on the upper management- employee level is not always good.

I have been working at LivingSocial full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

-Great new onboarding, training, and managerial handling of new hires (just started new program to train sales)
-Management is so helpful and sits with the rest of the team for any questions
-High expectations but also very understanding of mistakes and mess ups -- in fact you're expected to mess up
-Down to earth people, fun atmosphere, ping pong table, music always playing
    -SNACKS
-Great location next to White House
    -Enjoy coming to work
-Not micromanaged but always someone there to help if you need

    Cons

    - Time of BIG changes, new CEO, meaning new strategies, new developments, and lots of managerial changes
    - Because of big workforce cuts, wait time for customers / merchants is super long, dev ops is slow in the pipeline, should be more intuitive processes sometimes

    Advice to Management

Hire Up workforce again where needed, production is slow, wait time is slow
