I worked at Lloyds Banking Group full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

An excellent employer due to the pay and benefits scheme and also, the camaraderie between colleagues. Some excellent ways to progress your career.

    Cons

A lot of jobs are based on who you're friends with. The company is at the forefront of inclusion and diversity, however, you do come across senior managers with a hidden agenda that like to play with peoples lives when they find out details about your personal life and then gossip in these colleagues one to ones. That was a personal experience of several managers. The business could function a lot better if it had a clear out of incompetent 'face fitting' senior management who are in roles, not because of their amazing talent, but who they can become friends with fast enough. Also, quite archaic in the way the business is run, supposedly a forward thinking business that continually relies on you looking backwards. Performance management needs to be based on merit and what you have done, rather than if you are friends with your manager.

    Advice to Management

Change the senior management! Instead of making lower ranked colleagues redundant, clear your management out and start again. Stop the corrupt management and start focusing on the right things to help your customers.

I worked at Lloyds Banking Group full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Some nice people
Some very experienced and knowledgeable people
    Good building facilities

    Cons

    Poor culture
Say's that they want one thing but the actions to not correspond
A lot of senior staff that are untrustworthy

    Advice to Management

They need to be closer to the staff at all levels to really see the undercurrent of culture being delivered

    Pros

Great company to work for. Easy going, friendly people (for the most part) and good wages.

    Cons

IT aspects of project management difficult to manage because lots of IT elements have been outsourced to 3rd parties who only have a limited service contact eg support is 9-5 5 days a week when project implementations are usually overnight and at weekends.

    Advice to Management

Value your people more. Senior management would get more out of their staff in tricky situations if they yelled less on conference calls and focused on coming up with viable solutions rather than apportioning blame and empire building / politics.
