    Pros

great environment for customer service, and easy to learn. especially as a supervisor at the front end, it provides you with a great amount of skills.

Not a place you would want to work full-time. Heard from many full-time staff that it is hard to make a good income at the stores.

I have been working at Loblaw Companies full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Loblaws has a lot of employee benefits. You climb the wage ladder very quickly. There's great health benefits and profit sharing and pension plans. They also have a great employee service website for extra help

    Cons

The only challenge to working for such a large company is the large head office presence. There's a lot of emails to answer.

I worked at Loblaw Companies full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Company has many avenues for career advancement, pay is considerably more than competition, get to meet lots of really great industry people.

    Cons

While pay is good, they expect you to work very long days in excess of 12 hours to compensate for the high wage. Since you are on salary, you are not entitled to overtime, stat holiday pay or even the stat holidays off. Benefits are not great, no short term disability, no vision care, dental is less than 80% covered, not a great plan. Very heavy corporate presence from head office in the stores, lots of store visits from corporate so lots of pressure to exceed targets.

    Advice to Management

Offer a better benefits package. Promote a better work/life balance for managers, and not just say it, actually do it.

    Pros

    - Employees are friendly

    - Required to work on Saturdays and Sundays and to be available from opening to closing (Hard for students)
    - Required to be available on Thursdays or Fridays.
    - Low pay
