    Pros

Work there 2 years answer more you start getting medical and
    Dental

    Cons

Pay raise based on hours worked, where you have to work more and more to get the next raise. And the raise is only in 5 cent increments. You'll never get more than 5 cent raise because it is unionized.

    Advice to Management

Reward your part timers. You can't do it without us.

    Cons

    -high pressure results environment
    -too many levels of management
    -unionized enviornment

    Advice to Management

Fight to get rid of the unionized environment as it's costly and reduces our ability to offer customers the best customer possible.

    Pros

Great people to work with. Benefits and bonus are pretty good. Good after-work sports clubs and makes an effort to include all denomination of people

    Cons

Work you like a red-headed step child. I feel that they talk about the importance of work-life balance but do not actually make it a priority

I worked at Loblaw full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great learning organization that invests p lot in your development.
Great place to start a career and build your resume

    Cons

Hard to advance, a lot of favoritism
the work is very demanding, 24/7 operation with an operational clock where you will always work at least one weekend day and unusual hours that are not consistent.
For the amount that of time and effort you are required to put in, the pay is not worth it. Your responsibilities and tasks will be that of Operation Managers in 90% of companies, but don't be expected to be compensated for it.

    Advice to Management

Learn and analyze the market, and if you want your employees to stay, pay your management team a competitive salary.

    I worked at Loblaw part-time

    Pros

The people that I worked with were nice.
I could pick up groceries on the way home from work
Most of the staff are nice.

    Cons

Was treated horribly by management . Low pay. Had to wok weekends. Union dues. The discount did not make up for the prices being higher at other stores.
I can do so much better for myself, and you can too.
The best thing that people can do, to encourage change, is refuse to work somewhere where it is common and acceptable to treat people badly. Find a new job.
Eventually there will be no one good left, and the company will be forced to change their ways.

    Advice to Management

Treat people with respect. Output will increase when staff feel valued. The costs associated with turnover are high; isn't the money better invested in making the company a better place to work.

I have been working at Loblaw full-time

    Pros

    vacation
    work life balance
people who try to be "blue"

    Cons

    management
    HR
lack of progression for people in career
    mostly contractors
    bi-annual lay offs

    Advice to Management

i think a lot of the middle management needs to be replaced with individuals who can manage to put their team first to help achieve company objectives
how about having a HR organization that actually listens to its employees rather than trying to impress the VPs who are only out for themselves
