    I worked at Loblaw full-time

    Pros

great staff and teams to work with
    some flexibility

    Cons

a little too much red tape
VP layer needs to be changed - mostly mid level mgrs with no vision

    Advice to Management

change the VP layer - they are paper pushing and closed minded

I worked at Loblaw (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Beautiful physical environment; employees generally well-treated. Working for one of Canada's largest employers produces many perks and benefits not available at smaller firms.

    Cons

For all of the company's effort to reflect the country's identity, one sector of the population is unfairly excluded at Head Office - those over 50 years of age. If you are over 50 you will not be there much longer.

    Advice to Management

Resist the temptation to continue to have 120 vice-presidents. Too many unqualified individuals are named to positions more suitably filled by others. This was made worse by the SDM acquisition.

I worked at Loblaw full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

-Good salary (on par with industry)
-Broad career development options (Loblaw Digital, Shoppers, Joe etc)
    -PC brand is innovative

    Cons

-Lack of transparency and openness around career growth and promotions
-Leadership is too comfortable and isn't keeping up with the pace of trends/not open to taking risks

    Advice to Management

Hang on to your top talent because if they don't feel recognized, they will go elsewhere.

I worked at Loblaw part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Very good training and meet some great co workers. Aswell the interview was great and I was hired on the spot.

    Cons

At the Loblaws I worked at, my manager was just a very mean individual. Constantly getting mad and on multiple occasions I had to close by myself (first couple weeks of working).

    Advice to Management

Hopefully those who are just hired aren't given the stress of closing by themselves when they just start and make sure managers aren't using their employees and not wasting time.

Lots of downsizing and outsourcing positions. Environment is very fast paced.
