I have been working at Lockheed Martin full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The company has great ethics, cool products, and lots of opportunities. Multiple locations mean that you can move around pretty easily. The company has great resources.

    Cons

not a technology leader (the industry) - that is, they used to invent new technology. Now the commercial sector has taken the lead and the defense industry is a follower. They haven't quite figured out how to be a system integrator rather than a developer from scratch.

    Advice to Management

Cut the executive politics (executives have differing agendas and senior staff gets caught in between).

I worked at Lockheed Martin full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Shorter commute from work to home but that doesn't make LM shine

    Cons

The company is full with Racial discrimination.

    Advice to Management

Change old staff and hire new generation who grew up with all the cultures and races.

I have been working at Lockheed Martin full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

There are good insurance benefits, there is a flexible 9/80 schedule, cooperative support from the greater company abroad is encouraging. Salary very competitive.

    Cons

Remote site employees do not seem supported readily by HR.

    Advice to Management

Encourage entry to mid level managers with advancement opportunity. Filter profits down through company instead of letting it get shared only by senior level directors.

    Pros

The ability to work in a virtual enviromnet allows for flexibility and a good work life balance.

    Cons

Within the corporate environment there is limited growth potential for highly valuable candidates.

    Pros

Great benefit options for employees to include medical, dental and vision. Incorporates online website to access almost anything you can imagine for your own personal data. Starting pay is above par compared to other companies for a similar position.

    Cons

High turnover rate in areas which causes lack of experience in critical areas. Not necessarily a company problem but still creates problems none the less. Some training programs take a while to get spun up which leaves employees waiting for critical training.

    Advice to Management

Better communication seems to be a major issue when the lines are crossed between one company to the next. Definitely could use some improvement on overall communications too. Standardization of normally daily practices should be hot on the radar for management.

    Pros

Innovative and progressive company with programs that cultivate good partnerships

    Cons

If your an A+ employee the company can tend to abuse you with little to no compensation.

    Advice to Management

Be sure that your A players are well taken care of.

I have been working at Lockheed Martin full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Specifically for the Lockheed Martin Aeronautics site at Palmdale, CA, the Skunk Works, this review is to say that this is a place where you can achieve a high level of autonomy and recognition for your work, especially as an early career engineer. There is a high percentage of employees who are hard core airplane people and love their work and that makes the Skunk Works a pleasant place to be even during hard times. Lots of opportunity for a good work/life balance, as well.

    Cons

There is not much work to be had at this site right now which means that resources are low and makes other work more difficult to get done. Otherwise, no cons.

    Advice to Management

I think more transparency about decisions and direction that is being taken would be nice. No other advice to offer from me.

    No opinion of CEO

    Pros

Telecommuting, ability to set one's own schedule, and a suitable work-life balance.

    Cons

Management is often petty, assigns pointless tasks with little or no notice, the pay isn't close to being competitive for a quality engineer with some experience.

    Advice to Management

Promotions do not come nearly as often as they should, meetings often become a competition to have one's voice heard the most often and the loudest.

    Pros

Massive company with lots of reach back. They do some pretty cool stuff and it's interesting to get exposed to it all.

    Cons

Massive company, you're a cog in the machine. They're tenacious about pursuing business and expect a lot of their Biz Dev staff.
