I have been working at Lockheed Martin part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

They have longevity, been around for years.

    Cons

There are a lot of secret behind the scene favortisms that goes around.

    Advice to Management

Be open to the behind the scene stuff. Small groups (older employees) that know how to play the systems. Never go to EE for support.

I worked at Lockheed Martin full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    9x80 schedule was somewhat nice.
We got some benefits through the company, but still weren't great.

    Cons

Self starters are not always welcomed.
Improve upon the benefits for employees.
Perhaps take better care of the regular conveniences like snacks and coffee. They are fairly inexpensive and honestly make a big difference.

    Advice to Management

Change the mentality about the younger generations and their motives. Being biased towards them is not a good thing. Also, be willing to compensate more competitively.

I have been working at Lockheed Martin full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Best work/life balance with the 9/80 schedule (work 9 hours a day, get every other Friday off). Co-workers are extremely helpful and want you to succeed.

    Cons

Cost savings initiatives sometimes go to far. Management always finds ways to cut pennies rather than cut bigger items.

There are a lot of processes that are slow because it's a Defense company.

I worked at Lockheed Martin full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    - Very important work that will provide a sense of purpose.
    - At the working level, there are some truly great people.
    - Fort Worth is a wonderful area to live.

    Cons

    - There seems to be a corporate wide effort to outsource as much engineering and technical work as possible.
    - Upper management seems to be encouraged to separate themselves from line level workers.
    - Incentives for upper level management are often counter to stated company goals.
    - Good managers are put into a difficult position of towing the misdirected company line while still trying to motivate employees.
    - The latest management tool (e.g. EVMS, SAFe/AGILE) will be forced on all workers regardless of any possible benefit beyond a specific area.
    - Performance appraisals will mostly focus on justifications (read that as excuses) for a minimal compensation. These justifications will often directly contradict quarterly performance reports.
    - Trying very hard to form an inverted pyramid business structure.

    Advice to Management

Stop trying to "handle" employees and just focus on putting out the best product.

    Disapproves of CEO

I have been working at Lockheed Martin full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

9/80 schedule. Flex schedule that allows work life balance. Innovative products that are not built anywhere else.

    Cons

Rigid processes and culture. Business plan maintains low average base salary so difficult to get promoted unless you are female. Lots of corporate politics and bureaucracy.

    Advice to Management

Managing with an iron fist to meet schedule constraints loses trust, credibility, and lowers morale.

I have been working at Lockheed Martin full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

    I didn't get laid off.

    Cons

They used to be pay for school through the UTC scholar program, now that's gone so not much of a reason to stay. Little to no chance for career progression. If salary people leave, they don't backfill the position. Instead they just transfer to work to other employees.

    Advice to Management

Be accountable and hold each other accountable! You wonder why you lose good people, try doing something to make them want to stay.
