I worked at Lockheed Martin full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Generally, good people to work with; most of them are pretty sharp. A good manager can make all the difference.

    Cons

Senior managers often reserve privileges or larger raises for themselves. They also will use more travel and training money instead of spreading the wealth to the entire team. Working remotely is possible, but the downside is "out of sight, out of mind", and you are more likely to be laid off when management is obligated to reduce the contract cost to the customer every year.

    Advice to Management

Managers should not ever suggest that employees need to leave time on the table each year; otherwise they're "clock watchers". Employees work for pay; they should never be expected to work for free. In the end, if LM loses a contract, you are likely to be laid off anyway.

I worked at Lockheed Martin full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Diversity inclusion, company provides good opportunities, good benefits, competitive salary, provides international work and experiences, good travel opportunities.

    Cons

They have lots of processes that can slow down overall productivity. I suppose it's expected, given their CMMI5 credentials. Management can also be a little rigid and lacks open mindedness

I have been working at Lockheed Martin full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Large company with lots of different programs and opportunities

    Cons

Just a number, not a individual, some managers lack true leadership qualities and are only interested in furthering their careers

You get what you put in.

    Advice to Management

Listen and take action to address lower level employees concerns .

I worked at Lockheed Martin full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Relocation available, Upward mobility, tuition reimbursement

    Cons

Easy to loose track of yourself as a person and not just an employee ID

    Advice to Management

Place more into your workers in regards to the betterment of them and not just how they can get you to the next bonus level. Do this and you will get to the next level with ease because your workers will want you to get there because it was you that did so much for them.

I worked at Lockheed Martin as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

Opportunity to launch Lockheed Martin's Cyber Security launch into the commercial marketplace

    Cons

Lockheed Martin is excellent at providing software development services, but does not understand how to productize software. Every commercial sales is look upon as a new service sales as opposed to leveraging software products.

    Advice to Management

Need to understand that selling to the commercial marketplace is completely different than selling to their traditional government market.

    Pros

Great bosses, pay and insight to the overall corporation.

    Cons

Wouldn't hire before I graduated- Experience should count as much as education. Bosses fought for me to stay to make money during my school year. Corporation wouldn't allow it.

    Advice to Management

Let interns work throughout the school year.

    Pros

Telecommuting, Great Pay, and Great Benefits

    Cons

When they want work force reductions and no matter how long you worked for them or how many awards you got from them, it will be a done like a mob hit and you won't see it coming.

I worked at Lockheed Martin full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Was in the finance group, first in the Finance Leadership Development Program and then on to other roles within the F&BO org. Generally worked with great people, supportive managers and ethical leadership. Had one issue with a team leader who created an ethical issue, but it was addressed quickly, thoroughly and adequately. LM is an industry leader and a solid company.

    Cons

Getting recognition for your accomplishments can be a challenge. You have to know when to be the squeaky wheel. The performance recognition system is very formulaic and it can take some practice to make the system work for you. Also, even if you are at the top of your game performance wise, pay raises are very modest.

    Advice to Management

Continue working on improving your performance measurement, feedback and compensation system. There's not enough differentiation between an average performer and the top performers in terms of pay increases.
