I worked at Lockton Companies full-time

    Pros

They have a great looking office, near Union Station, and their HR guy is top notch. Free coffee and water.

    Cons

One of the worst companies I have ever worked for by far. I came in as an AM with many years of experience but management was completely condescending. Literally the worst employment experience of my life. Would not recommend them unless your trying to get some AM experience to add to your resume.

    Advice to Management

Maybe try finding out what your employees truly think, instead of cherry picking employees to take your employment survey so you can win the Top Places to Work award.

    Pros

Good corporate culture but the Southeast region does not apply it.

    Cons

Senior management does not walk the talk of the corporate culture. High turnover in the region.

    Advice to Management

Treat your employees as the main asset of your organization.

    Pros

    Awesome benefits. Decent pay.

    Cons

The "Communications" department is really a Word Processing department. This job requires you to silently work at a desk all day and make redline corrections to unexciting insurance materials with very rare positive human interaction. There is absolutely no upward mobility available in this department. They only give raises once a year, and it is a very menial raise. You are constantly working under tight deadlines, as they understaff the department, and people are not often friendly whilst their projects are in the process of completion. The manager does nothing to make the job fun or even bearable. You are treated like an emotionless, thoughtless robot for the most part. This is not a job for anyone with actual ideas or aspirations. I got catfished into this position - they really sell it as something it is not. I stayed for the pay and benefits but found out after two years of no professional or personal growth, that it was a mistake to do so.

I worked at Lockton Companies (Less than a year)

    Pros

Benefits are strong, pay is good. Cloud based technology makes it easy to work from anywhere. Casual dress days for charity and community service.

    Cons

Hired to do a different job than what was given to me. Promised flexibility wasn't given any and was constantly micromanaged. Training was short but was expected to know every tool that was proprietary to Lockton. Lots of "big brother" feelings all around. Management more focused on presentation format and decks than what the client is looking for. Boss never asked how can I help or what would be a good way to work together. Just got cold shoulder.

    Advice to Management

Stop worrying so much about time spent in the office - focus on quality of work. Promoting certain service people to management without management skills is going to hurt that growth in the long run. Stop micromanaging people you will stop keeping employees long term.

    Pros

The Account Management team that gives superior service and are technically superior.

    Cons

The DC President has fired multiple producer's for his own personal reasons that had nothing to do with production. If you are a senior Benefits producer, I would recommend that you stay away. And that is before you see their "loan" salary package.

    Advice to Management

RC is not Lockton, the DC office should have Marsh on it. And if anyone complains you become another RC casualty.

    Pros

Benefits were good. Some very good account managers to assist in managing client accounts.

    Cons

Nepotism is rampant. Jealous upper level management who lied to keep accounts, or to win new accounts, and blamed lower level employees for all account issues. Producers rountinely were untruthful to clients, who finally would figure it out and dropped the service..

    Advice to Management

Hire more honest Producers and Account Execs to keep your accounts and build the business.

I worked at Lockton Companies full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Benefits are good. Rolex watch after ten years. Fellow associates are friendly, and great be around. Good opportunities for continuing education.

    Cons

The company's direction has changed dramatically since I began work there. You're reprimanded for minor mistakes, and are set up for failure! Incredible amount of nepotism that is so obvious! Loyalty doesn't seem to matter, so don't expect to retire from this company! Hard work and overtime don't matter either. If management is out to get you, there is nothing you can do! They were also dishonest regarding wage caps.

    Advice to Management

Learn to value loyalty and pay more attention to your own mission statement!
