I have been working at Lockton Companies full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Decent pay, decent management, decent benefits. In general, it's just decent. Don't expect to be WOW'd, but don't expect it to suck either.

    Cons

Lockton doesn't provide tuition assistance. Lots of management only worried about profits and not their employees' well-being (that's business, I get it, but still...)

    Good health insurance
    Relaxed environment

    Good colleagues

    Cons

Lag the market in terms of compensation

    Advice to Management

Close the salary gap between Mid-entry level jobs and executives or senior account execs

I worked at Lockton Companies full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Benefits and Pay (401K, medical, etc.)!

    Cons

Management! Company is run by the "inner circle" and they all have huge egos - starting at the top! Don't see this changing anytime soon. Emphasis set on "youth" despite the fact that the "seasoned professionals" are the ones doing the work and keeping the company going. What happens when the "seasoned" leave or retire?? No more niche shoppe that's for sure and nothing there that would attract and maintain key personnel that the other brokers in Houston don't have. Be careful what you ask for - it all comes with strings!!!!

    Advice to Management

The culture in the Houston office is gone and has been for awhile (since Mr. Burnham stepped down as COO). Suggest you take a look at his "style" and get back to basics!

    Pros

Manager and team are incredibly knowledgeable. Culture and volunteer opportunities are second to none. 401k is the best out there.

    Cons

Income and bonus inequality between department and unfulfilled promises make for unmet expectations and high turnover. They will lure you in with false promises and then guilt/shame you into staying until you leave in tears.

    Advice to Management

Stop hiring with promises of job duties/responsibilities you don't plan to actually give. Many of us were told the position would be going remote and haven't. That there was upward mobility- there isn't. That bonuses would make up for low pay-they don't. Unless you work in Construction- you won't get recognition or pay and we see qualified workers leave for better paying opportunities with growth potential everyday. Stop complaining about training people for them to leave. Start incentivizing them to stay

I worked at Lockton Companies full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Collaborative / Supportive Team
    - Fantastic mentorship from all levels and genuine support across all aspects of life
    - Mutual Respect
    - Cultivates Talent
    - Accessible Leadership
    - Understands generational differences
    - Fairly predictive workload
    - Great access for building industry relationships and networking
    - Access and exposure to multiple clients (very important as a recent graduate)
    - Opportunities to champion items related to your interests that support the larger practice
    - Well-respected by clients and high client retention (the only time we seem to lose is when a client undergoes an M&A and our relationships are replaced)

One neutral point is that the office you are hired into is enormously responsible for your experience. Many of the Pros and Cons I have noted are specific to the Washington, DC office which has a fantastic culture and unique 'family' environment.

    Cons

    - Promotion is determined mostly by timeline and not by skill level
    - Smaller office meant when someone left it resulted in a fairly significant increase in workload which can be discouraging
    - Salary is not as competitive with larger organizations for at least introductory levels especially considering the amount of time one works

    Advice to Management

Focus on retaining staff by hiring additional people so workload is more balanced with salary, pursuing higher rates from clients, or eliminating under-performing Partners or accounts. Other suggestions may be helping new staff understand what their career at Lockton can look like in 2, 5, and 10 years.

    Pros

Lockton has a lot of work benefits for the younger new associates. There are many opportunities for career growth if you are willing to work hard.

    Cons

Not everyone is treated fairly. Larger pay and bonuses for the prized risk management department while all others are underpaid and receive nearly no bonuses at all. It is a boys club environment running the show.

    Advice to Management

Treat long term associates in all departments better.

    Cons

    Advice to Management

Be more proactive, not reactive, to handle this growth.
