I have been working at Logan Aluminum full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Excellent work environment

Logan truly puts an emphasis on safety as the top priority

Teams are organized with plenty of opportunities to work in cross functional settings with other teammates with different expertise

Lots of growth and expansion as well as retirement leads to plenty of opportunities for advancement

If you work hard, you will be given opportunities to advance your career and grow into other positions within the company

Lots of great training offered (both informal and formal)

Upper level management knows employees by name, which is impressive given the size of the plant

Logan puts an emphasis on continuous improvement in the types of projects pursued

Ideas from "the floor" are often implemented as improvements in both small and large scale projects

Employees are very friendly and helpful everywhere in the plant

    Cons

Sometimes things move slower than other companies because of the number of people/departments needed to finalize a decision

Location is a bit remote and requires living in a small town or a commute of at least 30 min

Joint ownership can result in conflicting priorities at times, but management generally does a good job of handling this for employees

I have been working at Logan Aluminum full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

An incredible culture of safety is the foundation of this place, followed closely by a true team based environment. I have worked in several places that boast a team approach, but none do it as well as here. They also encourage growth and want you to continually think about what you want to be doing next. Very encouraging place to work.

    Cons

The location is pretty much the middle of nowhere. Great for country living, but a 30+ min drive to the nearest city.

    Advice to Management

Obtaining employment here is a little difficult and frustrating. Several times I was told I would receive a call (as soon as the next day), but never did receive a call. It took a lot of follow-up on my part to finally get the job.

I have been working at Logan Aluminum full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    1. Everyone is like family. We spend a lot of time together at and outside of work.
    2. Logan promotes leaders from within. A lot of opportunity of advancement.
    3. You are not limited to a narrow range of work. We have a lot of freedom to learn and work in multiple areas.

    Cons

The only con would be swing shift if you are an operator or maintenance person.

    Advice to Management

Continue to manage the company with the Team Concept, we were founded on, in mind.

    Pros

The culture promotes teamwork like no other company I have worked for.
    The pay is pretty good.
    The benefits are outstanding.
There is ample opportunity for advancement.

    Cons

Logan Aluminum is about a 40 minute drive from where I live.

    Advice to Management

Maintain our culture, and safety, quality, and efficiency will remain strong.

I have been working at Logan Aluminum full-time

    Pros

Company values employees, promotes from within, and has fairly good benefits
Funding is not as much of a constraint as with other places and community and civil engagement are a priority

    Cons

Opportunities to grow are constrained by resistance to change, toxic culture of blissful ignorance, guaranteed 45 minute commute to live in a desirable location, most employees have lived in the area their whole lives and share pretty similar opinions

Little diversity, angling for visibility and throwing others under the bus seems to be a common tactic for promotions

    Advice to Management

Evaluate whether business practices that were successful decades ago will continue to translate to the next generation's workforce

I have been working at Logan Aluminum full-time

    Pros

Most companies tout the "team concept" ideal as being important, but rarely have I ever seen it actually work as efficiently as it does here. People truly care about each other and the business, and everyone works together to reach goals.

    Cons

Long commute. Russellville, KY has nothing to offer. The nearest city is Bowling Green, KY (45 minutes).
    Serious lack of diversity.
