I have been working at Logitech full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

It's really easy to slip under the radar if you set your estimates high and you know how to play the blame game.

    Free coffee, Free Gym.

    Cons

Lots of Inertia in methods and code. Finger pointing is common. Software release schedule is tightly tied to hardware deadlines. Someone goofing off in a half-dozen timezones away could cost you weeks worth of work. Tldr; Hurry up and wait.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your engineers. We're not trying to cheat you. If we say it's hard, Either A) It's ACTUALLY gonna take some time. B) it's dead simple, but we have a sneaking suspicion you're going to keep changing your mind up until the last second.

"Could be a great company but settling for good enough"

I have been working at Logitech full-time

    Pros

Executive management is motivated and trying hard to bring the company around. Work and life balance is decent for the most part and there are some really great people there. Have some really incredible products in music and gaming.

    Cons

For every great person there are four mediocre ones which frustrate the efforts to change. For every great product there are four mediocre ones. Too many of the employees are 10-4 with 2 hour lunch types and content with the status quo making it feel like a slowly sinking ship. Bay Area is too hot to retain the good talent because of all of this. No career development and few possibilities of advancement.

    Advice to Management

To be truly great you have to spend some money and not settle for good enough in personnel. Design is important but form follows function not vice versa. Listen to the boat rockers more they are likely trying as hard as you to change things for the better.

I have been working at Logitech full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Work-life balance

Strong opportunities - You can leave your mark as Logitech is a smaller company coming out of a strategic and cultural transitional phase

The People - Employs those with whom I enjoy working with (Mostly... Please see Cons). Has a CEO with a strong vision for the company and treats employees like real people.

    Cons

Ambition - As there is strong growth in the company for now, the company seems to take an overly conservative / non-disruptive approach in expanding product lines.

Weak Finance Leadership at the Highest Levels - I strongly believe this because:
    1) Finance is a support function. Design, manufacturing, operations, etc... create great products on which great companies are made. The CFO & finance leadership have completely lost sight of this. Top-down goals & reporting processes are being developed to emulate larger tech innovators without justification as to why this is the right thing to do (sheep mentality). This makes life more difficult for all other departments and the strain to report information is felt all the way down the line.
    2) Personal development is weak. Leaders treat most finance employees interchangeably, when in reality each has their own strengths & weaknesses. Organizational developments do not seem to leverage individual strengths, passions, & growth needs. When addressed, leadership seems to say the right things ("Your development is important to us", "We will always work to develop our talent", etc...). Sadly this may be lip service as there is no formal development initiative.
    3) Rife with politics

    Advice to Management

Overall I think this could be a great place to work (and greatness may not be that far on the horizon). The challenge seems to be having the right leaders, in the right positions, driving the right behaviors.

    Advice to Management

    hire more competent people.
