I worked at Loma Linda University Health full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Flexible schedule
Smart circular unit layout = closer to patients
    Faith based welcoming environment
    Medical benefits were great
    Wonderful coworkers

    Cons

Horrendous pay. I worked there many years and my step increases were very low, usually 50 cents. Cost of living bonus is your only REAL bonus, but it depends on the market. Usually 5%.
Favoritism and attendance nit picking during yearly evaluations. If you go over your 80 hours of sick time, even down to the minute, no raise for you. You can do overtime but no step increases if you go over your allotted hours.
Seems like only fellow Adventists get promotions or management jobs.
Dental benefits are the worst. No payment plans and routine cleaning only 50% covered. More invasive dental treatments only 20% coverage. What's the point in having dental insurance if you can't use it.
    Vegetarian only in the cafeteria.
    Parking structures are always packed.
    Exhausting shifts.
    Short staffing ancillary support employees

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees. Offer realistic payscale for employees.
