I have been working at Long Island Rail Road full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

The pay is ok. If you're in a management position you basically have the discretion yo do what you want.

    Cons

Unions. No one knows how to interpret the rules. Alot of nepotism. Mediocre benefits for union employees. No real dental plan that anyone will take and no vision plan. The vision plan is a discount plan. You pay anything over $11. Don't expect to get a promotion if you're good at your current job.

    Advice to Management

Focus on the advancement and development of your model employees. Show appreciation for people who work hard and go above and beyond.
