    Pros

LUH has a long history of being a community-centered hospital. Employees feel like part of a family.

    Cons

LUH has recently had to partner with a larger organization (Centura Health) and it may be a challenge to maintain our small town feel.

I worked at Longmont United Hospital part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

good teamwork, Planetree model, supportive managers. Even when it was really hectic I always felt supported by my fellow staff. Received a really thorough orientation both from corporate and on the floor, was very impressed with upper level management.

    Cons

Often short staffed, very high acuity patients with not always enough support, compensation could have been better.

    Advice to Management

Stay true to the Planetree model, it is not only important for employees but for staff self care too. Continue having an open door to employee concerns.

I worked at Longmont United Hospital full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Passionate co workers, extremely smart doctors, No a far commute from my home, free parking, cheap food at the grill.

    Cons

No room for growth in position, for having smart doctors, they just prescribe the same medication for every patient they see. Many of the staff have been here too long, stuck in their own ways.

Newly acquired by large corporation which is bound to change the culture

I worked at Longmont United Hospital (More than a year)

    Pros

Some of the best people USED to work there and they had great nurses that really cared about their patients.

    Cons

Centura purchased and since then fired people who had been there for years so they could put their people In.

    Advice to Management

Get someone in there who knows what they are doing.

I worked at Longmont United Hospital full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Staff great to work with and for. If your work is valued they will increase your pay, good benefits, organized hiring process.

    Cons

Distance, depending on where you live. Being a community hospital, on the medical floors you see a lot of the patients over and over again, which can be good or bad.

    Neutral Outlook

I have been working at Longmont United Hospital full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

A lot of opportunity for learning

    Cons

When I first began working here, there was great team work between RNs and CNAs. This seems to be dwindling, and occasionally CNAs are left feeling overwhelmed while RNs avoid call lights and pile requests onto the CNA. This seems to be more of a problem on particular units and more so on day shift than night shift.
