I worked at Loon Mountain full-time

    Pros

Free pass, lots of interesting people. Very strong focus on customer product which makes the free pass worthwhile.

    Cons

The HR practice was abhorrent. They hire from a global pool of work/travel programs, so the workforce is diverse. There were multiple issues with Jamaicans both sexual harassing female co-workers, and even guests while I was there. The response that HR & management had was not acceptable in today's workplace, and this allowed the issue to cotinue.

    Advice to Management

Fire people who are repeatedly accused of sexual harassment for a start.

I have been working at Loon Mountain part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The pros of working at Loon Mountain resort is that you can really get good at your passion. Teaching the sport to small groups is a Blast and it is very satisfying to see individuals improve and fall in love with the sport. Some of the benefits include a New England gold pass, as well as vouchers to give to friends and family when they want to go to Loon Mountain. The other employees and friendly and make you feel right at home.

    Cons

The downsides to the job come with the territory. It is very difficult to provide a top notch experience to five to eight level one snowboarders. Giving each one the individualized care to develop and improve their skill can get tough. The paid hours are also sub-par, some checks will feel like a slap in the face after all the effort you put in to provide the best experience possible.

    Advice to Management

Give a bit of a raise to the instructors because a ton of work gets put into getting people to enjoy snow sports. Without motivated and fun instructors there wont be people to return to the mountain.

    Pros

Great employees who are passionate about the outdoors and skiing. Full time year round employees are a very tight knit family. Great environment to learn and grow. Free Skiing and Lessons are a huge bonus!
