I have been working at Lorna Jane full-time for more than 8 years

    Cons

Working for Lorna Jane Activeliving, I have found that when you have an open mind and have the entrepreneurial mind, they give you the support to run your own store. So at this time, I can not think of any cons. Just be innovative, and open minded!

    Advice to Management

Annual reviews for all management & associates is critical to company's growth. This will allow associates and managers to know what their strengths and opportunities are for the upcoming year.

I worked at Lorna Jane full-time for less than a year

    Pros

In theory, you’d think there would be many pros working for a brand intended to empower your truth, women and sisterhood, but there aren’t any pros unfortunately.

    Cons

-Aggressive sales driven company with no incentive that motivates you to keep going. You literally feel like you are building someone else’s brand and dream up and she is literally giving you nothing in return. -the discount is 30% off on very expensive merchandise. You have to wear other athletic brands to work because you can’t afford LJ. - District Management and their expectations are ridiculous. I’m a hard worker,...

    Advice to Management

I know you are under a lot of stress with the demands from Australia. Unfortunately, that has trickled down to your US teams and most staff members hate working for Lorna Jane. I know your feedback doesn’t matter in Australia. May you all find decent employment once this company fails in the US.

I worked at Lorna Jane full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The women that I worked with at the store level were great. Also, the discount WAS great.

    Cons

Upper management constantly calls and would bully in store associates. Pressured into an almost desperate sales environment, definitely not luxury.

    Advice to Management

Lease lining is a joke in today's day and age. Everyone gets information from the internet or word of mouth. Ladies who can afford the product are put off by being approached in the mall. Also, handing out catalogs cannot be cost effective. Having moved on to working at a contemporary luxury driven brand, I have to say the Lorna Jane in your face way of selling does not work. Best thing I learned was, "May I check...

I worked at Lorna Jane full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Fun company to work for. Never required or asked more than 40 hrs, which is unusual for a retail job. Employees really passionate about what they do. Inspiring women to be happy and healthy is very rewarding. It's a corporation but each store is treated like a franchise so that the best customer outreach is achieved.

    Cons

Company doesn't care to understand the U.S. market since based out of Australia. Customer Service never answers phone calls or emails on time to help customers while in store or online. Upper management does not support the store level with insubordination issues or customer concerns. Marketing materials are always late, makes the job of selling items harder when you have to leave the store to represent the brand. The...

    Advice to Management

Better training for all employment levels in the stores. Try to think like a customer who's you want to come back don't think like a money hungry giant from across the pond.

I worked at Lorna Jane full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Created an amazing client base of women who loved shopping with me at the store. Had a nice team of girls working for me!

    Cons

Too many cons to type.I know many people in the company feel the same. Starting with our discount, we only receive 30% off product, trainers receive 20% off. Not very fair! As a manager I was required to wear Lorna Jane and was insulted by upper management when a tiny logo of another brand I had on the end of my jacket was showing. Lorna Jane does not make jackets in winter, only shorts and tank tops. What was I supposed...

I worked at Lorna Jane full-time

    Pros

The tights and bras are great!

    Cons

I begin to work for this company after reading what they stand for. After working for the company, I know that is a facade. Home office expects you to put your life on hold for the company. There wasn't much communication unless they needed something. Our District Leader would threaten our jobs and play it off as a joke. There's a huge turn over in all levels because of the lack of appreciation for their employees.

    Advice to Management

Please take the time to listen to your employees as it would allow you to see where you can improve as a company.

I worked at Lorna Jane full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Fun environment at times. Pushed me to be active. Keep in touch with my manager.

    Cons

The store was extremely slow. We had to stand outside and hand out flyers to people walking by. They over work you. Upper management was emotionally and verbally abusive. Upper management did not lead by example but expected you to be 110% all of the time. There was no real support and help with growth. The turn over rate was insane.

    Advice to Management

When someone's father dies, don't ask them to step up after a week. Worst company I've ever worked for. Quality of the product is below average. I would never recommend the product to anyone nor would I suggest anyone work there. The pressure they put on employees is absolutely absurd. HR never did anything when I approached them with my concerns. This company will not succeed in the US.

    I worked at Lorna Jane

    Pros

I love what the company {was supposed} to be about. Move. Nourish. Believe. My staff was awesome and I still keep in touch with girls from the other stores.

    Cons

Worst company I have ever worked for. They were constantly calling us from head office asking us what we were doing and why we weren't selling anything. We worked until our 5th hour with no break, but legally they can't allow us to do so, so they asked us to close and lock the gate for us to take a 10 min break. But that is completely ridiculous, if you have a customer in your store you cannot just close the gate and...

    I worked at Lorna Jane

    Pros

I worked with a great group of girls, pay wasn't bad (for retail), the product is really cute and functional. Brand philosophy is positive and well-meaning.

    Cons

Employee discount is not competitive to that of similar brands and did not make me want to purchase the product. Selling technique is VERY pushy and likely turns people off of the brand. Store traffic can be so slow that it's incredibly discouraging. They started offering a new bonus system but it's nearly impossible to achieve.

I have been working at Lorna Jane full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Getting to wear your work out clothes to work. You will have a lot of down time if you work in the Texas area since the stores are not busy.

    Cons

Company is not stable or consistent. Events in store are planned last minute. The company is getting cheaper and cheaper with quality as well as what they offer to their employees and customers. Employee discount has been cut in almost half, which is absurd since you are highly encouraged to wear the product to work. A normally priced $100 tight is still $70 with your discount.

    Advice to Management

You will always need to make your numbers, I suggest if your store is slow to book a ton of trunk shows to bring in extra money.
