I worked at Lorna Jane full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

A sub-par paycheck. Health coverage. Sick pay (IF) they allow you to be sick. Vacation WHEN it's not on TONS of black-out periods. Some girls are fabulous and become even MORE fabulous when they leave Lorna Jane. For the unknowing customers these ladies can be wonderful. Some NOT all.

    Cons

From the outside Lorna Jane seem to represent everything empowering about a female lifestyle brand. You've just bought into the brands marketing and its powerful lie. Once you're in the door the nightmare sets in. Read through the reviews. Bullying, harassing, manipulating. Stress. Mind games. Competitiveness and vying and gossiping against other co-workers. Laws disregarded that are aimed at protecting you. You...

    Advice to Management

You wouldn't heed any advice anyway. None. Just stop breaking every single law that governs a woman's right to thrive and be healthy and happy in your workplace. Stop inflicting the horrendous volume of pain, bullying and suffering upon these girls who make Lorna so incredibly rich. And for the love of God let them go the bathroom when they need to.

I worked at Lorna Jane full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Created an amazing client base of women who loved shopping with me at the store. Had a nice team of girls working for me!

    Cons

Too many cons to type.I know many people in the company feel the same. Starting with our discount, we only receive 30% off product, trainers receive 20% off. Not very fair! As a manager I was required to wear Lorna Jane and was insulted by upper management when a tiny logo of another brand I had on the end of my jacket was showing. Lorna Jane does not make jackets in winter, only shorts and tank tops. What was I supposed...

    I worked at Lorna Jane

    Pros

I love what the company {was supposed} to be about. Move. Nourish. Believe. My staff was awesome and I still keep in touch with girls from the other stores.

    Cons

Worst company I have ever worked for. They were constantly calling us from head office asking us what we were doing and why we weren't selling anything. We worked until our 5th hour with no break, but legally they can't allow us to do so, so they asked us to close and lock the gate for us to take a 10 min break. But that is completely ridiculous, if you have a customer in your store you cannot just close the gate and...

    I worked at Lorna Jane

    Pros

I worked with a great group of girls, pay wasn't bad (for retail), the product is really cute and functional. Brand philosophy is positive and well-meaning.

    Cons

Employee discount is not competitive to that of similar brands and did not make me want to purchase the product. Selling technique is VERY pushy and likely turns people off of the brand. Store traffic can be so slow that it's incredibly discouraging. They started offering a new bonus system but it's nearly impossible to achieve.

I worked at Lorna Jane full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Great support from management, lovely girls to work with, head office are more than happy to help when you ask for advice to boost sales, customers are so inspiring. When you work hard, you do get rewarded and most of the clothes you wear will be bought by using your rewards. Wearing activewear to work everyday... need I say more? Management are very direct and really push you to work hard. The support system is...

    Cons

I worked at an outlet so I was bombarded with unreasonably amounts of stock almost every week. This company is more of a reactive company more than a proactive in some cases.

    Advice to Management

Keep being supportive and make sure your staff know they are being appreciated. It will make them feel better knowing you are on their side.

I worked at Lorna Jane full-time

    Pros

Some of the girls are so amazing to work with

    Cons

Awful leadership, lack of communication, horrible pay, depressing culture

    Advice to Management

I joined Lorna Jane for the sole purpose that I connected with the mission it portrays to the public – however, what goes on at Head Office is the complete opposite of empowering women or “move, nourish, and believe”. I have never worked for such a micro-manager or such a passive aggressive manager. You receive very little to no feedback so the only time you know how you’re performing is if you do something wrong or something...

I worked at Lorna Jane full-time

      Pros

Great team of lovely girls at my store. Wearing nice clothes to work. New styles every month keeps store looking fresh.

      Cons

Bullying and intimidation from upper management is part of this companies culture. If your store is having a slow day you can expect at least 2 calls from head office asking you in a condescending manner why you are doing so poorly. They will then give you tips on how to improve your sales for the day. Lorna Jane has a mantra of empowering Women but they don't actually want strong, empowered women to work for them. They...

I have been working at Lorna Jane full-time for less than a year

      Pros

      - Head Office building itself is quite cool, free parking and onsite gym - Met some amazing, smart girls who I hope see the light as well and leave this terrible company

      Cons

I cannot believe the antics this company gets away with. I work at Head Office and am handing my resignation in as soon as I have secured other employment. To put it into perspective: this company has a team of women whose sole job is to make phone calls to underperforming stores and "encourage" (bully) them into picking up their sales. They literally get paid to sit on the phones all day and harass stores, calling them...

      Advice to Management

Investors/ share holders/ board members take note: you need look VERY closely at your management team. Bill screams at head of department and this filters down into absolutely every facet of the business. Happy staff = healthy sales and at the moment, neither of those is happening. To sum it up: Lorna Jane is a big brand and in every state. Most Australian women directly know someone who works/ has worked for the company:...

I worked at Lorna Jane full-time for less than a year

      Pros

Met some great girls and continue to keep in contact with them as they too have left.

      Cons

After 27 years in this field I have never seen a company like this who encourage and condone bullying which is driven all the way from the top. Upper management are grossly incompetent, encourage and farm in house fighting in stores which creates a fracturous negative work environment by getting staff to compete rather than work as a team.Upper management also go direct to store employees behind store managers back to...
