    Approves of CEO

I worked at Los Angeles County Probation Department full-time for more than 20 years

    Pros

Salary - Education - Experience - Training - Promotion Company recruits staff from colleges. Staff training and certification is extensive.

    Cons

Stress - Working hours - Communication - Education - Community involvement needs improvement. Family and minors need more involvement. Working environment needs to be more open and expressive. Working conditions need improvement. Better program planning and organization. Need staff who understand the minor's needs and desires (education/ work training/ and advisement).

    Advice to Management

Communication between staff and supervising staff needs work. Paper work deadlines need to be extended. Pressure to appear in court needs to be resolved. Outside counseling organizations should be improved.

I have been working at Los Angeles County Probation Department full-time for more than 20 years

    Pros

    Government benefits and retirement.

    Cons

Incompetent management on every level of hierarchy. Unreasonable and unsafe policies for staff members and wards. Rampant cronyism. No meaningful consequences for aggressive, violent wards, lending to increasingly unsafe juvenile halls and camps. No meaningful rehabilitation taking place due to unfruitful policies. Seasoned staff and new hires leaving department in mounting numbers.

    Advice to Management

    Empower staff not wards.

I have been working at Los Angeles County Probation Department full-time

    Pros

Health benefits are good and affordable

    Cons

The staff is very disgruntled. From the start. The academy instructors are most likely those who never went through backgrounds and didn't get polygraphs done so they probably went under investigation and are stuck teaching at the training facility in which they don't know have the material themselves. They want it regimented in academy but there's no regimentation in the halls or camps. The whole structure is a joke....

    Advice to Management

Have professional instructors and not rejects teach core curriculum in the academy. Create a more positive environment from start to finish. Get rid of all the nepotism that happens and the prejudices from the start. Hire qualified people and not those whose father works there because just because it is in the family as a career doesn't mean the entire family is qualified to represent LA County.
