I have been working at Los Angeles County full-time

    Pros

Benefits and ability to promote quickly if you are a hard worker. In many cases, obtained a degree in certain fields will open the door for more opportunities.

    Cons

Micromanaging and old school style of management which is practiced by many of the older executive level staff which is in direct conflict with the County’s mission as it relates to supervision and management.

    Advice to Management

When implementing new policies please listen to the line staff who actually has to do the work. Do not continue to promote managers who have clearly demonstrated that they are unable/unwilling to treat staff as adults.
