I have been working at Los Angeles County full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Other than the benefits and perks, there are no pros to the job. Again, there are no pros, only cons.

    Cons

The benefits are the only good part of the job. Everything else is terrible and a con. They do not care about the employees or consumers.

    Advice to Management

    Retire!

I worked at Los Angeles County full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Co-workers are very nice, helpful and like to work together. Everyone works at their own pace but does their own work diligently.

    Cons

Management needs to bring up more staff and secretarial meetings so that secretaries could meet each other and work together. Management has to also listen to employees' concern and offer them training when they come in and are new to the position.

    Advice to Management

Micromanagement is an old way of teaching, old school and instead bring secretaries together have meetings twice a month and work together to succeed in their job positions.

    Pros

Steady job, good pay, great coworkers

    Cons

Some of the folks who've been promoted to supervisor positions are beyond incompetent. Some of your coworkers will be the stereotype of a lazy government employee.

I have been working at Los Angeles County full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Flexible hours, you create your own schedule.

    Cons

No benefits, no perks, low paying job

    Advice to Management

Instead of making SPWII a temporary position (where you let go of them after they graduate), how about you start hiring them permanently after they complete their masters instead of hiring someone new (like a management fellow who probably has the same masters as the SPW with less experience in the industry) and having to teach them everything over. We already know everything for analyst position or whatever you have open,. Why not hire? Also, we work minimum 30 hours. I know I worked 30 when I was in school and 40 during the summer. Why not provide us benefits as well? According to labor laws, anyone who works 30+ hours should get benefits.

I have been working at Los Angeles County full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Benefits, salary, impossible to be fired. No other pros to provide at this time.

    Cons

Employees who need to be fired aren't fired. No other cons to write at this time.

    Advice to Management

Be a better civil servant by being more strict with problem employees. Lack of discipline for problem employees is causing complete and utter loss of morale among their peers.

I have been working at Los Angeles County full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great patient population, many great people working there, nice work life balance. They have plans to build new facilities and continue to improve overall experience every year.

    Cons

Some support staff are great, others seem to care less about their job (patients) but continue to work there. Old facilities.

I worked at Los Angeles County part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

My supervisor was very flexible with my part-time schedule. He allowed me to come in to work on Saturdays in order to focus on school during the week. The pay was a good amount above minimum wage.

    Cons

Late hours during the summer because of Baseball League duties. Patron interaction not as bad as one would expect from retail or dining, but sometimes wasn't pleasant.

    Advice to Management

Thanks Stanley and Lorraine for making my experience working at Arcadia Park a good one. Saddened to learn they don't work there anymore.
