      Pros

Outstanding benefits and excellent employee programs. Large agency so there is a lot of room for movement. You can climb the ladder if you put in the work.

      Cons

Low pay considering it is a program for Veterans, must work with people that can be quite rude and less than professional. I encountered a lot of really nasty people that worked within the County and unfortunately causes a hostile work environment if you don't fit in with their culture.

      Pros

      It’s a job - that’s about it.

      Cons

If you love getting no money and being over worked then this place is absolutely perfect for you! If you love working with unmotivated and lazy coworkers then this place is also perfect for you! If you love dealing with office politics and managers who don’t care about you then this place is also for you! I wouldn’t wish this work environment for my worst enemy. Please do yourself a favor and look for a job elsewhere. I promise you the benefits are not worth being miserable 9 hours a day.

      Unprofessional, stressful environment

      Pros

Average salary, but good healthcare benefits, pension plan and 401K and 457K plans. Limited tuition reimbursement. Flexible work schedule for education classes to complete your GED, AA, BA, and/or, MPA

      Cons

There is a high attrition rate among young new employees, (22-35 years old). They feel unqualified to do the job as an entry level Eligibility Worker II when they receive only one-month of fragmented training to understand the complexities and legal aspects of major federal and state programs such as CalFresh, Medi-Cal, In Home Support Services, General Relief, Greater Avenues of Independence (GAIN Program). When working with the General Public, (Participants), they are expected to be experts in these program types and not given the basic tools to succeed. The case loads have exploded due to the rocky economy and the need for more social services and financial aid. The negative effects of miscommunication and non-empowerment to resolve issues and high expectations on these low paid 9,000 Eligibility Works has a ripple effect on the other 4,500 employee and managers. The work environment is hostile and stress filled.
