I have been working at Lose It! full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Ok, I know what you're thinking. You've read all the reviews and are wondering if they were even written by real humans who work here. It really does look fishy, huh. Well, let me say that, I only wish I had applied to work at Lose It! years ago. It is honestly the best tech company I've ever worked for, and I've worked for quite a few. I have the best work-life balance I've ever experienced, work with really incredible...

    Cons

Really none that I can think of. Managers are receptive to feedback and we adjust as needed with company growth.

I have been working at Lose It! full-time for more than 6 years

    Pros

When looking for a place you work, I consider mission, culture, people, and the nature of the work. For me, Lose It! is a rare find that ticks all the boxes: a product that makes a difference and helps people live healthier lives; a fun, exciting, startup-y casual culture; really smart, hardworking people who love what they do; and the opportunity for me to contribute by doing work that I love.

    Cons

The only real downside is that the company is in Boston and I’m not a fan of winter :(

I have been working at Lose It! full-time

    Pros

Insane benefits - commuter subsidization, catered lunch on Mondays, gym membership, great sense of camaraderie. Play Hard, Work Hard mentality. Work.- Life Integration. I could go on for a while.

    Cons

The job could really only be better if I didn't have to commute.

I have been working at Lose It! full-time for more than 2 years

    Pros

    - Crazy-Good Benefits Not just the insurance and options, either. When I tell my friends and family about things like company trips they can't believe the benefits could be that good; they literally think they've misunderstood what I've told them. - Aggressive Compensation I was being underpaid at a larger company. If you're questioning how much you're worth, Lose It! may just prove its more than you think. -...

    Cons

    - Big Codebase Lose It! is a robust product but that comes with a large codebase. Fortunately, Sr. Devs have great domain knowledge (because Lose It! works hard to retain their employees) and the code has only minor tech debt. Onboarding could use a little work but its actively being addressed. - Low Structure Company organization is relatively flat and there isn't a ton of structure (no stand ups, scrum, etc.)....

I have been working at Lose It! full-time

    Pros

Awesome work culture: Very few people I know love where they work as much as I do. The people here are awesome and the company is committed to encouraging people to live their life, not just do their job. Meaningful work: Really awesome to work on a product that helps people achieve their goals on a daily basis and for a company that is committed to helping people succeed.

    Cons

Resource Limitation: Because it is a smaller company, things aren't always as easy to do as they may sound; however, that just requires you to get a little creative when thinking about how you want to solve a problem.

I have been working at Lose It! full-time for more than 4 years

    Pros

    - Ridiculous benefits, outings, schedule & vacation flexibility. Because we all work hard to reach our goals. - Genuine, fun people & a wellness-promoting environment (with a healthy balance of beer) - Encouraged to learn, grow, collaborate and build your own career - Refreshingly transparent leadership that actually listens Which is all great, but the real kicker is... Purpose-driven work. "To mobilize the...

    Cons

Caveat: These cons are more like "if you're not a startup type worker" -- because for most of us these are positives. - As small as we are, cross-team communication needs improvement. It's getting there. - Constant moving parts means prioritization can get shifted, need to be ready to go with the flow - No super predictable career trajectory or review structure like you might get at at a larger company (but that...

    Advice to Management

Keep working on communication and cross-team project management transparency (we'll get there!). Encourage mentors within the company to empower career growth & consider setting up reviews to help build employees' professional skillset. But mostly, keep doing what you're doing.

Thanks for the review! A mentorship program and review cycle are both great ideas to encourage employees to actively work towards expanding skills and defining career path.

I have been working at Lose It! full-time

    Pros

We work together to solve hard, important problems. Since this is a small company, we all have a hand in driving what the company delivers. Your voice is listened to and considered. Not for those with a low work ethic-- Lose It! employees work hard nearly all the time. Great benefits & great company outings; they take care of the employees.

    Cons

Between-department communication isn't always the best, but it's something we're working on.

I worked at Lose It! full-time

    Pros

Good working hours, good camaraderie in general, pretty stable job environment, bosses seem to care

    Cons

Very clique-ish in each team, i.e. in engineering they only seem to hire specific types who graduated from specific schools. Older employees seem to think they know best despite limited skill set; very insecure of new blood.

    Advice to Management

Hire for the attitude and aptitude, not just because they're your friends.
