I have been working at Loureiro Engineering Associates as an intern (More than a year)

Comfortable Friendly Atmosphere, Medium-large Company means lots of help and interesting different projects

    Cons

There were no cons in my experience

I have been working at Loureiro Engineering Associates full-time

    Pros

    Read some unfair reviews. Pros?
    - ESOP
    - smart colleagues
    - fair pay and good benefits
    - interesting projects

    Cons

Not much. Company is like so many others that struggle to stay up with technology etc but do a pretty good job.

    Advice to Management

Keep an ear open to what staff are saying and continue to solicit comment

    Pros

Everyone at the company has a good balance between work and play (they understand that the brain physically cannot work 8 hours straight and that small side conversations are good for work productivity). Comfortable work environment (everyone is willing to help with anything). The biggest thing that I was happy with is that managers gave you a lot of independence and trust (no hovering). They also keep their promises; if there's a project you want to work on or you want to travel, they will do everything they can to make it happen for you. Lastly, everyone seemed to have a fair view on work/life balance.

    Cons

Nothing major to note. The only thing I can think of is organization when working with a group of people (which comes with any company and any group). Set up project files and how you want to work on documents before the project starts rather than trying to figure out/ change it up half way through.

    Advice to Management

Keep the small office environment/ opportunities, especially as the company continues to grow.

    Positive Outlook

I worked at Loureiro Engineering Associates full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    - Lot of exposure to various industries, management allows you to diversify within your areas of expertise.
    - ESOP, strong benefits / PTO
    - Casual atmosphere
    - Senior managers / execs have open door policy - I approached executives to review information on a routine basis in an informal matter. I don't understand the poor reviews given regarding senior management - simply not true.

Would recommend company for culture, work variety, management, and benefits. Lot of information/resources to take in and use to advance your career.

    Cons

    - Not all managers are capable as mentors
    - Compensation below average. 40-hours is considered a minimum. No OT for salaried employees.
    - All work revolves around a few major clients. In some cases we had to adopt the company culture of these clients which was not valuable experience unless you wanted to work for that client in the future.

I would recommend the work/life balance for this company, but there are drawbacks. The hard work and extra hours were paid in valuable experience for my resume and experience. This was acceptable to me however understand this when applying or offered a position here.

    Advice to Management

My managers were very approachable and I will use the experience they shared to assist in my future career development. Continue to develop middle managers and work with entry level to share your experiences. Many mid-level managers lack the ability to mentor their staff.

I worked at Loureiro Engineering Associates full-time

    Pros

    Multi-disciplinary services and staff expertise.

    Cons

Behind the scenes one finds an uneasy atmosphere indicative of a senior management who are unpredictable or even volatile. Among mid-level management and employees, camaraderie falls far behind opportunism, disrespect, and manipulation. It's hard to know where you stand with management as they foster an atmosphere in which employees are implicitly encouraged to blame people, not processes. Diversity is non-existent, no one notices gender aggression (against women). Managers with poor people skills are rewarded for short-term results at the expense of staff.

    Pros

    ESOP but absolutely nothing else.

    Cons

The company is a walking hypocrisy - worst corporate personality and culture. Company is a "puppet" of its 3 main corporate clients who control the top 4 principals who in turn control employees to act a certain way - their way and thus you feel like you are controlled by a micromanaging socialist regime. Company cares about their own "risk" only and don't trust their employees tracking them in ways that invades your privacy. Company uses quasi scare and threat tactics in daily communications. Many people have no social skills, have average abilities and/or can't write. Nothing ever gets done or finished or completed. Poor, sub-standard and/or used office setting, equipment, supplies, computer systems, company vehicles confirms company does not care about employees and their daily work life.

    Advice to Management

You cant give them any. Upper management believes they are so superior they don't need advice. Case in point - read website tag line "Anyone Can Show Up - Few Can Perform" ..It should read "Loureiro Can Show Up but Can't Perform".

    Pros

There are no pros with this Company.

    Cons

Upper management has absolutely no concern about employees. They have a click group that can not be broken. The two individuals who lead the company are both back stabbing liers and enrich themselves on the backs of the employees. Just how much did the two of them make when they sold the building to the Company. Bottom line untrustworthy liers the two of them

    Advice to Management

Cares about someone other then yourselves

    Pros

You learn how to deal with back stabbers

    Cons

    Oppressive management
The people skills of upper management leaves a lot to be desired. They use heavy handed tactics to get their way. A fellow employee mentioned that it was like living in a Communist country.

The owner is a spoiled rich kid that inherited the company from his father.
    Watch your back

    Advice to Management

Take a hard look at your employee satisfaction ratings.
