      Pros

Working for a mission driven organization is fulfilling both personally and professionally. It's hard work, and there are high expectations throughout the organization. Having a supportive manager and leadership team has made a difference especially during COVID, with lots of flexibility for self care. I appreciated transparency with commitments around DEI pre 2020, and definitely support the work that is being continued over the last year and a half. Also appreciate competitive pay and benefits benchmarking.

      Cons

-Small team, definitely can be an all hands environment when not expecting it. -Sometimes communication is unclear -COVID caused some turnover over the last year and a half, definitely has been challenging with staffing

        Pros

The team of Food Rescue Coordinators are wonderfully human people, dedicated to working in their communities to more equitably distribute food. The driving job is straightforward and rewarding.

        Cons

The FRC team has significant long-standing issues with management. There is a paternalistic approach to management, poor people skills, and an occasionally condescending tone toward the FRC team. The decisions made by management -- often in spite of the wider team being vocally opposed or intentionally not included -- contributes greatly to widespread burnout and sense of powerlessness in the team of drivers.

            Pros

Working at Lovin' spoonfuls is genuinely refreshing. From frontline Food Rescue Coordinators to senior leadership, most everyone on the team seems to genuinely want to be here and cares deeply about the mission and each other. Management values employees' feedback and ideas, supports their professional growth and development, and holds them to the same high (but fair) standard of excellence to which they hold themselves. Spoonfuls is a logistics company operating in the non-profit space. Around the table are people with real business acumen and a commitment to innovation and operational efficiency which shows in our work. Reasonable work/life balance.

            Cons

Not a con necessarily (or at all): We're scrappy. It's a carry-over from our start-up years but, a decade (plus) into business, there are few of us who aren't willing to roll up our sleeves to support a project that's a little outside our wheelhouse. That might not be for everyone.

              Pros

Lovin' Spoonfuls has a strong, committed staff. The Leadership Team is committed to continuous improvement, providing staff with opportunities for professional development, and continuing to grow the organization. They offer a great suite of benefits with very competitive health insurance premiums. Post-COVID, they also offer a hybrid office schedule. The office has a very casual environment.

              Cons

As with any growing organization, there are growing pains at times. Communication can break down, but the organization has put a lot of new systems in place to address it.

                Business Outlook

                Pros

                - Collaborative team - Strong communication efforts - doesn't just preach open door environment but actually displays this behavior. Encourages people to speak up and participate. - Inclusive environment - They prioritize working with their staff to develop them professionally. Offering growth opportunities (when able) and creating road maps to grow (either with the org or not). - Success is celebrated - the team feels valued

                Cons

Given that it's a small team, you often have to wear many hats (but that's the case with any nonprofit in reality). Something people likely embrace!

I have a 5 year gap in my work history due to an illness. How do I explain this? I can't lie, SSD is on my background check as a previous employer. I am on it and looking to re-enter the job market and get off of it, but I understand it is a reason for employers to pause in hiring me.

                Senior Associate

How do you interview for a position when you are under-qualified based on seniority but not based on skills? I currently serve as a senior associate for a reputable consulting firm, and I have an interview for an associate director position. However, I am just shy of the minimum YOE requirement included on the job application and relatively young (though I meet all of the other requirements). Any advice on convincing the hiring manager I am ready for a mid-level role?

                EY

Had 4 behavioral interviews for a position last week. Last Friday (which was the last of the four interviews), the interviewer spent most of the interview selling me on the job and didn't ask me any questions. She ended the interview by saying she thinks I am confident and would be a great fit for the role. I took this as a good sign but giving it's 2023 you never truly know. Has anyone ever had an interviewer do something similar and not gotten the job?
