I have been working at Lowe's full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good management team in the stores, great place to work most of the time.

    Cons

Company has forgotten that it's great customer service that brings people back, they are in the process of eliminating experienced full-time associates and replacing them with inexperienced part-timers.

    Advice to Management

You reap what you sow, saving a little payroll is not going to help sales in the long run.

    I worked at Lowe's full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great people to work with, diverse duties. Good benefits, good vacation time. Peers are excellent sources of vital information, communication is essential to success

    Cons

Upper management can be challenging, fragmented communication, little support or follow up training provided. Store management can either work with you or be against you. The company is in transition and morale is struggling. Systems and infrastructure is fragmented, lack of transparency.

    Advice to Management

Follow up and support your people, maintain positive outcomes by actually getting on the ground with them, teach train show and do, if you want consistency you have to build it hand in hand.

I have been working at Lowe's full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

For 15 years I dedicated strong work ethics to Lowe's in providing exceptional customer services. Lowe's newest mantra "help people love where they live" was my goal. Recently Lowe's restructured job positions eliminating department managers. In effect taking many tenured associates out of their structure. This change eliminated the product and operation knowledge from the stores, replacing them with lower paid part time associates with less skill and knowledge levels. This concept creates more red vests on the sales floor, but with the equivalent entry level part time and temporary skills. I once loved where I worked and loved helping others love where they lived. The dedication, multiple customer service awards, and high praise meant nothing. DO NOT Work here. Lowe's will use you, so corporate big wigs like Robert Niblock can collect huge bonuses. Lowe's was a great place. Now it sees employees as a number. Don't fall for the hype.

    Cons

If you enjoy being used and abused then Lowe's is the place for you

    Advice to Management

My advice to management is be open and honest with employees regardless of corporate directives. Those that lose faith in Lowe's will still see you as honorable regardless of the outcome.
