I have been working at Lowe's full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

For 15 years I dedicated strong work ethics to Lowe's in providing exceptional customer services. Lowe's newest mantra "help people love where they live" was my goal. Recently Lowe's restructured job positions eliminating department managers. In effect taking many tenured associates out of their structure. This change eliminated the product and operation knowledge from the stores, replacing them with lower paid part time associates with less skill and knowledge levels. This concept creates more red vests on the sales floor, but with the equivalent entry level part time and temporary skills. I once loved where I worked and loved helping others love where they lived. The dedication, multiple customer service awards, and high praise meant nothing. DO NOT Work here. Lowe's will use you, so corporate big wigs like Robert Niblock can collect huge bonuses. Lowe's was a great place. Now it sees employees as a number. Don't fall for the hype.

    Cons

If you enjoy being used and abused then Lowe's is the place for you

    Advice to Management

My advice to management is be open and honest with employees regardless of corporate directives. Those that lose faith in Lowe's will still see you as honorable regardless of the outcome.

    I worked at Lowe's full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Good benefits, such as medical, dental, vision, 401k, stock purchase program. Opportunity to each an annual bonus if you are in Senior Management. The Lowe's company is constantly seeking to improve their business. Strong focus on customer service.

    Cons

The criteria to earn an annual bonus periodically change and get harder every year, and the potential bonus that can be earned gets smaller. Lowe's does not have enough oversight for the Senior Store Manager, which means that office politics can easily interfere with one's ability to get a promotion and negatively impacts job retention. This lack of oversight also enables some Store Managers to more or else show up for a paycheck and have little involvement in the success of the business. While Lowe's is constantly seeking to improve, over the last 10 years the company has been eliminating jobs at almost every level of the company, which means you could lose your job at a moment's notice without warning, regardless of how good of a contribution you have been making toward the success of the business. Lowe's has a lot of regard for their customers and very little regard for their employees.

    Advice to Management

Market Managers need to keep a closer eye on their Store Managers.
