    I worked at Lowe's full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Some stores can be flexible with school schedules.
Not your typical low-commitment retail atmosphere. Employees seem to view their employment there as more of a career.

    Cons

Limited support/training from managers. Management would push me to offer Credit Card applications and other promotions to customers, sometimes this bordered harassment and made shoppers feel uncomfortable.

    Advice to Management

Try to be flexible with hours. As far as the Credit Card thing goes... In general, employees care about our customer and don't want to harass them. Encourage employees to identify customers who would benefit from the credit program before approaching them.

I have been working at Lowe's part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Reasonable starting pay. Can get over time. Casual attire is nice. Tattoos are acceptable.

    Cons

Difficulty getting full time or permanent position if started as seasonal. This applies to hard workers as well as the bad ones.

    Advice to Management

Store management needs to set example. Follow policies and respect everyone to ensure better work morale. Be as consistent as possible. Get the best trainers so new employees know the job duties.

Don't wait so long to give good workers a full-time permanent position. Your work buddy is still considered a worker if they receive a pay check. Expect them to work too!

What's the point in putting "this may not include all duties" when hiring if you truly don't require a general understanding that they can be asked to do any reasonable task assigned to them?

    This applies to all employers...

It's good to have expectations known. Management turn overs aren't a reason employees get slack. They know what they can get away with!

I worked at Lowe's as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

Decent starting wage, open communication with superiors, Good company structure and procedures.

    Cons

Terrible schedule, Worked every weekend (Fri, Sat, Sun). Left alone in my department on my 3rd day, If your strong, you are asked to lift or move heavy product. I had no product literature in my department.

    Advice to Management

Perhaps it is a good idea to give one weekend a month off. Be sure department heads give proper and through training to new employees before leaving them alone. Get down and dirty with associates.

I have been working at Lowe's full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great benefits especially for salary employees. Great bonus program for management and employees. 100% paid STD is nice. Schedule can be quickly adjusted for salaried employees

    Cons

Work life balance. Long hours. Pay is nice but on the lower end for HR for what we do. Change is a constant.

    Advice to Management

When making company changes do not forget to show that you still care about associates

    I worked at Lowe's full-time

    Pros

We got to experience the magnitude of positive impact we could make in someone's lives by helping them build their dreams.

    Cons

I found that in every department in the store the employees were vastly under staffed and almost had to run at times from task to task.

    Advice to Management

It's always a good idea to learn as much as possible and involve yourself in many types of projects. Just keep in mind that the number of jobs you complete is not as important as the quality of the jobs you complete. When working with the public you need to focus quality time to ensure a flawless process and a great customer experience. If you are uncertain about the performance you will provide, you can say no.
