    Pros

Awesome customer interaction within the community

    Cons

Restructure is pushing out the good employees due to overloading of duties and lack of direction from corporate.

    Advice to Management

Stop hiring Managers to run the building who have no clue about the business, your SSMTP is broken, Home Depot has beaten you again.

I have been working at Lowe's full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Start out with 2 weeks vacation and 6 paid holidays which involves comp time for 4 of those. Pay is pretty good as far a retail is concerned and they match 401k to a percentage. You can get promoted fairly quickly if you really work hard and show that you're competent. Honestly, if you are with the company for a few years and find a new job then go back to Lowe's you will make a lot more.

    Cons

Most stores are almost always understaffed in atleast a few departments. Once you get into a position yearly raises will fall behind a bit as the pay caps rise. Meaning someone who is hired in the same position as you a year after you may start with a higher wage than you do.

    Advice to Management

Staff your stores better. With more staff in key areas the stores could make a lot more money as customers would not leave because they can find help.

I have been working at Lowe's part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Friendly environment. Management seems to listen and hear what their employees are communicating. Thanksgiving and Christmas days off.

    Cons

It's still retail life in that your shifts bounce all over the place. Not a whole lot of feedback on performance and my training did NOT prepare me for being on the sales floor.

    Advice to Management

Just to keep listening to your customers and employees.

    I worked at Lowe's full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good steady employment. I started off as a Sales of Out Door Power Equipment. Then, after 3 years went to Tool World.

    Cons

I did well in both departments. However, because I was able to get up at 4 in the morning,I got the opening shift. And as a Sales Person, I needed the mid shift.
Then, when I transfered to Tools, I started to help on the stores with inventory. It was at that time, I spoke with other Sales Managers. All stated that No Sales Persons came in before 8 in the morning or stayed later that 8 in the evening.
While in tools, I had difficulty with the I.R.P. I went to closeing shift because of it.
That worked well. Then I was put on opening shift again, and once again had issues with the I.R.P.
Later, I was written up for poor job proformance.
The store H.R. accepted my A.D.H.D. As a real issue and that's why I sometimes had issues.
When being written up for not always finding all things on the I.R.P. I then mentioned to the store manager That's why I went to closing shift in the first place. He said "I'm not going to make that Accomodation this time " During just in a few weeks, late 2001 to early 2012, he discharged several "Over 50's". I later talked to Area H.R. about a rehire, She said I'v heard enough about The Delta Park Store, I well say Yes to a Rehire "
    4years later, I'm not rehired.

    Advice to Management

Please feel free to call me as Regards rehire or any other subject.

I worked at Lowe's (Less than a year)

    Pros

If you are passionate about customer service and a hard worker, you can move up the chain of command. You will be able to transfer to another store location after only one year if that is how you want to move up the ladder.

    Cons

If the store management at the top is a bad manager the rest of the crew suffer. Same thing in any store. It is a good reason to transfer out of that particular store.

    Pros

    Great people work at Lowe's

    Cons

Mediocre pay scale with very small "raises" (they are actually cost of living increases, not raises).

    Advice to Management

Spend more time letting people manage themselves and excelling rather than micromanaging.

    I worked at Lowe's full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

On the job training, promotions are given even without college degrees, fair review processes, great succession planning.

    Cons

No matter where you go in retail, if you don't love your job, the rotating schedule and long work days for managers are brutal.

    Advice to Management

Lowes is going in the right direction with their changes...just work on the senior staff rotations, they are not conducive to productivity with the 6 days on 1 day off, then 4 days on 1 day off. You feel like you worked 12 days straight. When one is on their feet doing 10 miles or more a day in a huge box store, the body needs time to recoup.

    Pros

personal growth use to be there 10 years ago, after all the cutbacks it seems you'll get promoted because of who you know, and not by your work ethics

    Cons

I have nothing to say here
