I have been working at Lowe's full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

dedicated leadership team, very employee-centric, an urge to do the best for the employee, good food, transport, friendly people, good communication, lots of good employee events like cricket, volleyball, very good chance to work in community building

    Cons

management should be bold in making decisions, should not be bothered too much about US

    Advice to Management

trust each other and don't bring other people down. it's a good culture don't spoil with your ego.

I have been working at Lowe's full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Management is straight forward and the work is not hard.

    Cons

The company has decided to eliminate full-time positions creating a more stressful work environment. Also since the restructuring employees on the lower end of the spectrum have been given responsibilities that are not within the job description for which they were hired.

    Advice to Management

Management has been dealt a losing hand and from my point of view they are doing what they deem is necessary to keep the store running. Although management needs to recognize that simply increasing employees hours and burning out workers will not replace the employees lost over the past year.

I have been working at Lowe's full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

You're never limited to the knowledge in your own department. There's always an opportunity to learn useful things from other associates, managers, and even customers that can help you with your own home improvement projects.

    Cons

They run a skeleton crew (at most Lowe's, not just the one in Front Royal) so if someone calls out another department is going to pay for it.

    Advice to Management

As long as management understands that one associate covering sometimes two departments at a time can only accomplish so much in an 8 hour day I think we can work from there.

    I have been working at Lowe's part-time

    Pros

I've only been working there a few weeks but so far so good! Extensive training and an open door policy makes for an easy transition into the work environment for people like me who are returning to the workforce after a long period away (approx. 20 yrs for me). Starting pay is competitive and low pressure environment.

    Cons

Employee orientation materials describe part time as 10 - 25 hrs/ wk. but I am consistently scheduled to work 30 - 35. Most of these are made up of 9 hr days which makes for an exhausting day spent standing in one spot.

    Advice to Management

Hire more employees for all positions! There is never an associate in many of the departments and when customers have to come all the way to the front to ask the cashiers and we have to page someone, you better believe it makes for an unhappy customer!

I have been working at Lowe's full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Lowe's has been good to me up til the end of 2016. Decent pay, vacation, health care, 401k, discounted stock .

    Cons

Since the restructure at the end of 2016, the sales floor has been spread thin and a flood of part-timers have come in. Buttons always going off, upset customers.

    Advice to Management

Management has been spread thin and they have effectively taken good hard workers from the department to fill the new management roles.

I have been working at Lowe's full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

easy, work load is not much unless there is no coverage.
ok paying job for the work expected.

    Cons

sometimes we are put in spots where we know nothing of the departments and we get chewed out by customers but they don't understand.

    Advice to Management

we should train everyone to at least know something about every department in case we need the coverage.

I have been working at Lowe's (More than a year)

    Pros

Loved dealing with customers and occasionally getting my hands dirty by loading mulch and being in the sun. A great job for those unwanting to sit at a desk and vegetate all day,

    Cons

There was always pressure from management to "Look Busy". On occassion we were require to look busy or complete tedious tasks in order to impress management. This was not usually the case was coordinated with the specific "VIPs" that would stop by.
Lowes also has a way too lenient return policy which slashes revenues.

    Advice to Management

Trust in your department heads and don't try to micromanage the whole location.
