I have been working at Lowe's full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Health Insurance is awesome and the pay for retail is pretty good. Your coworkers are very down to earth people just trying to make a buck.

    Cons

I don't see how there can be any good current reviews. Lowe's had a total restructure about three month ago. They demoted all the department managers. There's no leadership on the sales floor. I understand corporations do this to up stock prices. To add insult to injury there not hiring enough associates and this is nationwide. The hardworking associate are being run into the ground and the stores are falling apart. Is there an underlying plan to run off the long standing employees to save money. If so this is a dangerous game there playing because this place is falling apart fast. I'm not business savvy but might they be looking to drive down cost along with the restructure so they can sell the whole company for a big profit?

    Advice to Management

If management and corporate truly want Lowe's to succeed then give us the manpower and tools we need to make it happen. If you really want to know how the employees feel read the Lowe's blogs.

I have been working at Lowe's full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

There aren't any anymore unless you are willing to sit and chat with managers rather than actually do a job

    Cons

More layoffs to come, FT beginning to be replaced by just PT, low pay, sexist environment, HR is a scam, spotty coverage (expect to have to cover 2 to 3 departments at a time), they will not properly train you, no opportunities to move up in this company for the foreseeable future

    Advice to Management

Start caring about your employees and customers more than your bonuses and have the guts to tell District Managers when their ideas are bad.

I have been working at Lowe's full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

A job, keeps you active. Some great fellow with the neccesary sense of irony. Bathrooms sometimes work. Employee discount can help.

    Cons

Losing staff rapidly, severe inventory problems. Extreme physical & mental wear and tear. Due to staffing, unable to give quality or even passable service

    Advice to Management

Pay a living wage, have realistic expectations for a chronic lack of staffing. Quit stacking the company ratings on this website.

I have been working at Lowe's full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Part time employee benefits (not very good benefits but they at least have them), several different areas to work in to avoid burn out, most of the staff are good people.

    Cons

Pay is not very good at all levels (Alabama), ASM's and Store manager are clueless on how to motivate employees, training is nearly non-existent, disciplinary actions are not equally administered (if your "in" with the store manager you get away with what others are fired for), health insurance is a joke (it is pretty cheap but the copays and deductibles are crazy high), store policies are not followed consistently, employee policies are not followed consistently, the new management structure is so bad because there is no attention to detail in the departments (sales managers have no time to delegate the small details, the departments are falling apart and therefore look like poop), I could go on for another 10 lines.

    Advice to Management

Does not matter what we say, you will continue to draw large salaries until you run the business into the ground and pay the people who actually make a difference in the stores as little as possible.

I have been working at Lowe's full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Going to be profitable with new restructure plan. Less full time folks and more part times positions. Benefits are good if you're full time but that's getting harder to accomplish.

    Cons

No advancement opportunities any more. Limited management positions. Customers want decisions in the departments which does not happen now. Once the old department managers leave there will be less product knowledge in the store.

    Advice to Management

Stop the pressure on old DMs to quit just so you don't have to announce there's going to be a layoff of those individuals.

    I worked at Lowe's full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Some really good people at the lower levels. Good managers and directors. Beautiful campus. Decent product discounts, especially during the holidays

    Cons

Senior management is inept, behind the times, and painfully slow to react. When they finally do make a decision, it is offer done with only partial information and ends up being reversed once it is filtered down and the people who actually understand the business fully inform them of the ramifications. Too many of the VPs micromanage every aspect of their departments and want to make decisions that are not within their purview. There is no loyalty shown to employees and pay is woefully low for Charlotte. IT attempts to run the entire company and makes decisions without any input from their stakeholders. Finally, the top of the company is homogeneous. Same backgrounds, same experience, same faces. They're completely interchangeable with one another, and completely useless. The feeling is they are happy to be number 2 in the market as long as their stock options are filling up their etrade accounts.

    Advice to Management

    Quit

    . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

    Cons

More work same pay as you where getting before you get the same as a cashier but you lift and drive the power equipment and use the tools and if your in lumber like me your also a cashier which is beyond unfair

    Advice to Management

    Restructure it like before 2017

    I worked at Lowe's full-time

    Pros

A paycheck, that's it. If you don't have a college education and just want to be told what to do like a slave, this job is for you!

    Cons

Heartless, greedy, biased, liars, deceivers, prejudice. Lies lies lies. They pile on more work on people and then cut back the help so then there's even more work to do with less people and they expect it done without the extra help. You would think their management is a well oiled machine, but that's not even close. Some work their butt off and get nothing. Some are worthless and get praised and promoted. Hard work, loyalty and commitment does not pay off in this company. They use the words "we" but it's really all on you. You break your back for the store managers so they can get their bonuses and praise, while all they do is talk lies, eat, get fat, and screw people over.

    Advice to Management

Is it worth lying to people so you meet your goals and get your petty bonus? You better hope Karma is not real.

    Pros

    Decent pay, great vision insurance.

    Cons

Treated disabled employees like crap because of having to sit down.

    Advice to Management

Learn to talk to people better, don't treat people with disabilities like crap. Especially a vet. Like wtf.
