    I worked at Lowe's part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Healthcare, Employee stock, free food parties for performance and safety, consistent schedule, decent wages, great back-room training on customer engagement and product knowledge. Company provided vest, don't have to wear specific clothing or cover tattoos unless they're offensive.

    Cons

If employed part-time they won't give you more hours unless you apply for a position that is full-time. Corporate is only worried about sales. Hard to make improvements or push new ideas because everything is already laid out as to how they want the business to run. Most employees don't seem to care about actually helping customers, just getting through their day. Have to push credit cards.

    I worked at Lowe's full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The schedule was nice. Few days on, few days off. The coworkers that were competent and there to actually work made the days go by smoother. HR tried to make fun activities.

    Cons

When I worked at a store, I loved Lowe's. This killed it for me. Management was terrible when I left earlier this year. The constant stress of receiving customer calls about how late their deliveries were, or how they were promised one thing by another associate, or whatever the complaint was, and I personally was told by managers that I was effectively a manager and that I could handle whatever it was. I'd get screamed at by customers and then scolded by management when they inevitably complained. They hired people and never gave adequate training. We were promised raises to be competitive with other warehouses and that HR person was fired. After a few months here, I desperately was looking for work anywhere, a shared activity with my coworkers there. This is a good job if you need the money and have a lot of patience. If you try too hard or show your competence, you will get taken advantage of. The warehouse is a dead-end job. You won't advance. Especially with the corporate restructuring.

    Advice to Management

Provide better training. Take more accountability when there are angry customers. Make the work environment collaborative instead of 2 or 3 people who naturally lead having to shoulder all the work of the people who sit and gossip or are otherwise distracted throughout the day. Don't take your hard workers for granted.

  10. "Lowe's has been going through changes"

    StarStarStarStarStar

    I worked at Lowe's part-time

    Pros

When you get to work in a department (i.e. flooring, paint, electrical, etc.), you get to learn a lot, which will make you want to start your own DIY projects. The co-workers are generally pretty good too.

    Cons

Lowe's has been changing a lot in terms of management and how they structure themselves on a corporate level. It could create headaches when you just knew they would shift the way they wanted you to do something by next quarter.
