I have been working at Lowe's full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good management team in the stores, great place to work most of the time.

    Cons

Company has forgotten that it's great customer service that brings people back, they are in the process of eliminating experienced full-time associates and replacing them with inexperienced part-timers.

    Advice to Management

You reap what you sow, saving a little payroll is not going to help sales in the long run.

I have been working at Lowe's full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Good people to work with for the most part.

    Cons

Not enough employees to support the volume of foot traffic. Not much incentive for seasonal hires to stay on as it's hard to be kept on or hired full-time. Shift hours and long work weeks. Stores open later in summer.

    Advice to Management

Lowe's needs to focus on future of remote selling as well as foot traffic. Keep people who are knowledgeable and enable them to efficiently interface with online customers for special order sales. Hire additional support people.
Lowe's could save money if not they kept the nine p.m. close time all year in stores that don't see a lot of night customers.

I have been working at Lowe's full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good benefits, good people to work with for the most part, high paced.

    Cons

Management restructure is getting rid of a lot of good people to save money and replacing with unknowledgeable part timers to save money and give shareholders bigger bonuses, when working in a smaller store the company has a tendency to take hours from it and give to bigger stores so we have to work even harder and are very short handed. Customers notice and the customer focus scores are going to go down because of it. Corporate makes promises and doesn't keep them especially to the ones who have lost their positions. No room for advancement anymore and full time jobs are going to be so much harder to get and keep now. The company doesn't focus on the little guy who is the reason they have a paycheck and a job to begin with. All about the bottom line. Corporate doesn't truly focus on great customer service or they wouldn't be taking from the full timers as much as they have or doing.

    Advice to Management

Speak up and fight for your good employees. The seasoned employees who are knowledgeable need to be rewarded for their loyalty by being able to move up and keep their positions. Teach, train, and raise up your employees. The more good you point out and the more you work shoulder to shoulder with your people the more productivity you will get out of the emoloyees. Morale is very low right now with the restructure, be understanding and compassionate because it could be you who is having to fight to find a full time position in the company.
