I have been working at Lowe's full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

dedicated leadership team, very employee-centric, an urge to do the best for the employee, good food, transport, friendly people, good communication, lots of good employee events like cricket, volleyball, very good chance to work in community building

    Cons

management should be bold in making decisions, should not be bothered too much about US

    Advice to Management

trust each other and don't bring other people down. it's a good culture don't spoil with your ego.

    Pros

The pay and benefits are the reason anyone works for Lowe's. Basically to pay the bills.

    Cons

Store management is very disorganized. Your job description changes daily and depends on which manager your dealing with at that time. The district manager wants you to work with customers. The store manager wants you to do "everything". The sales manager want you to work on sales activities. The department manager and team leader want you to do "everything". The official Lowe's corporate job description is written in a way that your job is to do everything (And they stick it in your face). The computer systems are outdated, slow and "down" a lot. The store is hot and the floors are hard (leg and feet problems). Management does want you to sit for your entire time your on the floor. Managements ability to develop a schedule is laughable. They cut staff and then expect remaining staff to cover "everything". Store managers do not want to staff properly because it effects their bonuses. There is a lack of empathy for the employee. There is a extremely high employee turn over rate.

    Advice to Management

Get all of your store managers, sales managers, Zone managers, department managers and team leaders on the same page. Staff the store properly.

    Pros

The pay is actually better than most places. Also if you are of the favorites they will find ways of promoting you even with out the specific requirements. I love the products and the svc that is offered. When it comes to customers they almost NEVER say no.

    Cons

The managment is complete unattached to their employees. They do not follow up on complaints. And they play favortism. When do place a complaint it is really hard to get any action on it or to push your management to follow up. Unless it has to do with money and the bottom line they take their own sweet time.

    Advice to Management

Stop playing favortism and start actually caring about your employees rather than just the bottom line.

    Pros

There is really not any good reasons to work for lowe's. Unless you just want a job to be with your friends and get a paycheck. Especially if you are young

    Cons

Not enough time with family. Working close then open the next morning. About 4 hrs. sleep. Management does not talk to you unless you are a member of management. They look down on you like you are nobody. And they expect you to do the job of 3 or 4 people, especially if you are the type that come to work to work not play.

    Advice to Management

Talk to your employees not just look down on them. Everyone not just certain one. Be fair. Treat everyone the same not just the ones that are lazy and brown nossers.

    Pros

There is no good reason to do that to yourself.

    Cons

Salary - ridiculous compared to industry standard. Benefits - when the company experiences any sort of downturn, they compensate by finding ways to make up the difference by cutting employee benefits. Competence of management - there are a very few lower-level managers there who try to make a difference and create a good place to work. They're quickly eliminated. The very poorest, Scrooge-emulating managers are the very ones who stay on forever, apparently rewarded for their 'good work'. This is a company which, in tough economic times, would rather do things 'the way they've always been done' (meaning, as poorly and as expensively as possible) rather than listen to new ideas which would clearly benefit the company.

    Advice to Management

See to it that the hollow promises you're constantly making to your workers finally have some substance. By the way, have you figured out yet that moving to Mooresville was the dumbest move you've ever made? Guess being close to your house on the lake counts for more than what's good for the company, huh?

I receive a paycheck and am there when bargains come up

    Cons

Lowe's will change your position on a wim If you are not liked for any reason there will be no advancement for you. Management talks to their employees like they are children although some are children and behave as such some of us are not and think we should be treated with respect

    Advice to Management

If a person knows their job and is doing a good job there is no need to micro manage them to a point where the begin to loose their self confidence Encouragement and support are what we need not a lot of micro managing to feel we can't move unless given the OK by senior management.
