I worked at Lower Colorado River Authority full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Paycheck, nice office, plenty of parking

    Cons

Total favoritism..more about people who are liked than people who are doers Much of accounting staff does not understand the business they are in Too many people with little or nothing to do most of the time Too many long term employees who add little or no value Management is not fixing issues or does not care Lack of communication

    Advice to Management

See CONS and try to solve or let someone else take charge

I worked at Lower Colorado River Authority full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Better than working outside? Though certain days made me question that.

    Cons

Politically driven management that will pick favorites easily. If you're not playing the office politics game your career is doomed. Pay increases are not enough to keep up with Austins rapidly rising cost of living. Management seems to do quite well, however.

I worked at Lower Colorado River Authority full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Location. Perfect place to work if you have no work ethic. If you’re the type who just wants to sit in their chair for 20+ years and collect a paycheck, this is the place for you.

    Cons

All talk and no action. Management claims to want to improve things, but does nothing. Outdated systems & procedures. Stuck in the 1990s. No incentive for anyone to do a good job- no raises, literally, for years. Most people do just the bare minimum- just enough not to get fired. Awful atmosphere.

    Advice to Management

Nothing. They don’t listen, anyway. Just a lot of smiles, then they blow you off.

I worked at Lower Colorado River Authority full-time for more than a year

    Pros

I would never recommend working for LCRA.

    Cons

LCRA is based off the "good ol boys" system. You are never rewarded on hard work, It's all on who you know. By far a super toxic working environment.

    Advice to Management

    Learn to respect hard workers.

I have been working at Lower Colorado River Authority full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    Benefits and pay are appealing.

    Cons

Management is based on office politics across the board. Once you upset someone in a higher position, you're days are numbered. You can go from a review with many accolades to one riddled faults never discussed with you. There is little opportunity for movement. If a position opens in another department there's most likely already someone with a foot in. Networking is key even if it means selling your soul to the devil to keep your job.
