    Pros

    - Open office
    - River To River Festival to VERY organized
    - A lot of hands on experience due to it being a small company
    - Being able to really connect with colleagues

    Cons

    - President didn't really interact with interns (something you wouldn't expect when he's located across the office from you)
    - Low pay because it's a non-profit

I worked at Lower Manhattan Cultural Council (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great Staff that care about interns

    Cons

Due to the nature of the NGO your tasks will range from your specific role to basically doing whatever is needed in any department. Could be considered a pro but occasionally lacks focus.

    Doesn't Recommend

    Pros

A lot of development opportunities; great internship conversations.

    Cons

Unclear job descriptions, sometimes asked to take on tasks beyond my original capacity. Understaffed; senior staff could delegate more tasks.

    Pros

At the time, the office was quite social and everyone was hard working and got along.

    Cons

Financial resources were always at the forefront of project planning.

  10. "Exciting place to work!"

    Pros

Friendly, fun team atmosphere. Everyone really invested in enlivening the cultural landscape of downtown. Perk: tons of great events like open studios, public performances, concerts, etc. Sure you are working, but what an experience!

    Cons

As a non-profit, funds must be secured on an annual basis for operations and programs so a lot of attention on fundraising. Open office setup is a challenge.
