I worked at Lowes Foods full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Only pros I had working for this company for the 4 years I was there, was ONE store manager out of the 3 I worked for who tried to promote me very fast (who then quit out of nowhere because of pressure from corporate) and ONE co-manager out of the 10 that I worked for who always listen to my concerns and suggestions and always seemed to be on my side and helped grow as an employee and provided the employee-friendly management style that could make any employee want to work for him.

    Cons

Management seems to spend more time on finding things to write you up on instead of helping you and your department grow and bring in more profit. They treat you very poorly and the pay reflects that as well. Switched companies and they paid me $5 more than what I was making at Lowes for the same exact job after 4 years (3 years full time). Favoritism is at an all-time high for managers, regarding which part timers will get hours or not and which co-workers they will work with or be rude to. The environment is a high school feel but with adults instead of children. Corporate is no better than management in this regard. Do enough to be "nice" to them and you could have the worst numbers, you'll be promoted over those who are actually qualified to be promoted.

    Advice to Management

Start caring about your employees. They're not as replaceable as you assume they are. Acting more professional would help. And if you give your word to an employee, see it through that you help them in whatever you told them you would help them with. Favoritism regarding promotions should be a big NO for management but like I said high school feel in this company. And pay more. Other companies are stealing your best employees because you won't pay them and lowes would rather replace them instead of pay them.

I worked at Lowes Foods part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Very flexible hours, friendly employees, plenty of training and support from managment. Small family owned buisness that genuienly cares about employess.

    Cons

Part time is capped at 25 hours per week, very minimal pay raises, not a ton of benifits for part timers.

    Advice to Management

Invest more resources in your parttime employess, add more perks or benifits for employees that stay on long term.

I have been working at Lowes Foods part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The job itself has a minimal learning curve and is easy to get used to. Not many challenges you face ok the job.

    Cons

Absolutely terrible management and structure. No managers know what they're doing. They do not listen to employee concerns. They often forget to give breaks. They act like they dont care about you as an individual. VERY LOW HOURS and poor communication.

    Advice to Management

The overriding system is absolutely terrible. Takes all day and is inconvenient to guests and hosts. I understand some things need it but a override for a $2.50 candy bar, and a GSL takes 5 minutes to get over there after two PA announcements? And why are my hours usually 6 a week? My friend didnt even get scheduled for a day this week. I have asked for more hours 3 times. No change. How about you get organized. Get more hours for people who want them. Make sure we have communication. I dont even know how to contact my front end manager from home? I dont have her phone number? It's overall just a mess. Great store, but absolutely atrocious to work there.
