I worked at Lowes Foods part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Very competitive pay with yearly raises, great benefits for part-time workers, down-to-earth management that has your back, helpful and friendly co-workers, lots opportunities for cross-training and growth.

    Cons

Only one thing: Food for Thought every month! Used to be a pain in my butt having to click through a video meant for cashiers when I'm in the middle of production!

    Advice to Management

Keep valuing your employees like you do!

I have been working at Lowes Foods part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Honestly I love working at Lowe’s food so much! The managers are awesome. You get discounts on Lowe’s foods brand items and you get gas rewards. There are a lot of very nice customers and you see regulars all the time.

    Cons

The only thing I can think is every now and then you’ll get a rude customer.

I worked at Lowes Foods full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Good job for someone looking for their first job but not ideal for the long term.

    Cons

    Lack of team work
Guilt tripped into tasks, scheduling, etc
    Black listed for speaking out
Only shiny, happy faces when “corporate” comes

    Advice to Management

Hang on to your most valuable employees. Don’t settle! Take the “little mans” cues when trying to bring up controversial topics. Management are like car salesmen they know how to make it all nice and pretty. Hiring process is unreasonable. Seen hiring manager bag groceries, explain a video, run out do an over ride, answer the phone, and run back to trainee and say now where we? Amount of payroll and time constraints given to each store is unreasonable. Part-time hosts get $20 gift card annually & Full-time gets $35 or $40. Department Managers/Management get bi-annual bonuses that are based on ridiculous P & L’s with projections that are nearly impossible to earn. Really is the bottom line more important than thanking your hosts? I expect a decent amount of turnover in a grocer but Lowe’s Foods is unreal and I suggest taking a long hard look at the bigger picture in why.

I have been working at Lowes Foods part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Freedom to be yourself; an opportunity to learn the retail business at it's finest; meet interesting people; and a management corp that is willing to move you to your best fit as well as theirs. Hours and schedule is flexible to fit your life style.

    Cons

Part time hours vary and is less than 35 /week. But your time could be spread over the entire week.

    Advice to Management

Training is limited but it is a detriment to your losses to give it ample time before moving new hires on their own.
