I worked at Lucid Motors full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Gorgeous product that is a result of the work from a world class team. Amazing potential ahead. Some opportunities can exist for one to make a real difference.

    Cons

Understaffed throughout which can be great for detailed ingenuity but not so great for hard decisions that require top-down strategy / resource commitment.

I worked at Lucid Motors full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The talent that Lucid has acquired is top notch. The work force is extremely smart and willing to put in the hours to produce an amazing product. Forward looking company that is focused on positioning itself with a portfolio for future success and growth.

    Cons

Start-ups have added stresses that can take away attention from the companies mission and Lucid is no exception. Mission becomes overshadowed at times.

    Advice to Management

Focus on hiring the best and don't forget to reward those who have waded through the mud on the road to greatness.

I have been working at Lucid Motors full-time

    Pros

Small company with an open work floor means you get to know people fairly well, and project-planning drives workload, so time commitments can be flexible. It also means that you tend to take on work when it needs doing because it's unlikely it's already assigned to someone else.

    Cons

Work tends to stay very departmentalized, so while some groups may be doing almost nothing, others are working nonstop.

I have been working at Lucid Motors full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Amazing automotive talent all around and vision for the product. The entire company is very focused on technical excellence and extremely passionate about what is being built here.

    Cons

Some people, in general, just do not have the mentality to put 110% into their work. If you're that person this is probably not the right place for you. Coming from the Midwest, I am still not sure how competitive the compensation is for the area.

    Pros

Lot's of very smart people and great technology. Salary okay and stock option good (it it is ever worth anything!)

    Cons

No money to get things done and long hours that end up in nothing productive. With no real leadership no-one is going to invest in Atieva's future no matter how many investors you parade through the HQ site.
Also, the closed door meeting in Chinese are not respectful to those of us that do not speak Chinese. Hong Kong techniques will not work in Silicon Valley.

    Advice to Management

Since the Board fired Bernie in late 2015, they need to hire a real CEO, COO and CFO that know how to lead.
Also, respect your employee's families and promote a healthy work-life balance. Expecting your employees to stay until after 7:30pm each night for dinner is horrible.

I have been working at Lucid Motors full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Working with the most talented group of people in my 15 year career in the Automotive Industry! Every day I am amazed by what a concentrated group of people all fighting in the same direction can achieve!

    Cons

Every Startup has it's complications. Here at Atieva you just need to drive past it and push to make the best product. None of the complications have yet to stop me from doing the work I love in the way in the way I dream of doing it.

    Advice to Management

Continue hiring only the best. Having more of the "right" people, is more efficient than just having more people.

    Pros

Very "outside the box" take on building an automobile from a clean sheet of paper. Some of the world's most talented engineers (and those that will be in the future) congregating in one place is surely an amazing site to see. Despite the crazy schedules engineering managers work with, they still take the time to respond to emails and help the HR side make fluent hires.

    Cons

Being a startup, Atieva experiences the same levels of turbulence that any startup would face. Fortunately, the levels of experience at the top help circumvent the average pitfalls most companies fall victim to.

    Pros

very exciting and dynamic environment to work in. Lots of smart people around so its a very good pace to learn. Money is not an issue if it means it gets the job done faster and better. Also no expenses spared on personal training and development.

    Cons

very busy times so not much time to try out new things. Hopefully it will get better in the future.

    Pros

Incredibly talented team hand picked from around the world for their skill and experience, integrated in a strong team, working on a truly exciting vision. The level of knowledge and expertise in the team is inspiring, and challenges you to up your game. You learn and grow more here in six months than in years at a traditional automotive OEM. Product development approach is different to a traditional OEM, as is the way in which the whole team works together for the benefit of the product. You have significant responsibility in your role, and can really influence and shape the product. Free breakfast, snacks and drinks, and in-work social events, help with the silicon valley feel. Pay and stock options are competitive.

    Cons

The nature of the products, and the short development timeframe, mean the hours can be long. But when you're excited and fired up the days fly by.

With a smaller team compared to a typical OEM, you need to cover a much larger set of responsibilities which can be daunting. However, you learn a diverse skill set very quickly.

    Advice to Management

Protect the values which make Atieva unique, and different to a typical auto OEM, as the company grows. Keep on the path we're on, and we'll deliver a world class product.
