I worked at LucidWorks full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

CTO, Grant Ingersoll is a great leader and a very smart individual.
He's also surrounded by very knowledgeable individuals that are committed to the Solr project

    Cons

Leadership doesn't have a lot of experience and it shows in the decisions. They are focusing on trying to make the company look cool with the excuse of attracting talent and increasing valuation. As long as the technical core remains strong these issues would be cosmetic and temporary

    Advice to Management

Continue to invest in the technical team

I worked at LucidWorks full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Management is approachable for the most part, they listen and they take care of you, casual atmosphere, passionate and talented executive staff.

    Cons

Hard to sell, departments tend to work in silos, favoritism is obvious. The company has gone through multiple facelifts and way too many wholesale changes to have a true identity.

    Advice to Management

Foster young talent and provide growth and opportunity to succeed, choose a GTM strategy and stick with it for more than 6 months.

I have been working at LucidWorks full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Tremendous talent in all departments, smart and motivated people, great leadership. Being a part of a company where people (and leadership) care about the vision and the employees is extremely important. There is a lot of room for (upward) growth within the company for employees. Lucidworks has huge potential and has persevered through a tremendous shift in leadership and product with grace. Momentum is picking up quickly as product and marketing advance. It is a great place to be and I am looking forward to seeing how the company continues to grow.

    Cons

Forces outside of current leadership's control have led to some haste and lack of confidence from those on the outside looking in. Internally those sentiments are not apparent and they are quickly dissolving within the community as Lucidworks continues to prove its potential and momentum.

    Advice to Management

Continue to stay in-tune with employees.

I have been working at LucidWorks full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Amazing turnaround in the last year from training/services to subscription/platform. Real product, real customers, real industry, real opportunity. Smart people.

    Cons

Sales team flux which is natural with an office move from the burbs to the city. More engineering/sales needed to build faster and stay ahead.

    Advice to Management

Focus, deliver, amplify. Dump what/ who doesn’t work. 7 years in, there's a real there, there.

Company needs to improve on some processes - but who does n't?:) and they seem to be finally coming to place.

    Pros

Great people, exciting space. Open Source and Big Data are very promising, and the technical team is very innovative, creative, productive and articulate.

    Cons

Lack of process maturity, lack of leadership. Previous generation of leaders did a lot of damage to corporate culture; current leadership fixing it, but not all there yet.

    Advice to Management

    Stay Focused!

    I worked at LucidWorks full-time

    Pros

Management maintains its commitment to and belief in the market opportunity. Has continued to invest in both product development and sales/marketing.

    Cons

The jury is out if the market opportunity exists and whether or not the company can capitalize on it given the competition.

    Advice to Management

Transparency is key to retention of key employees during a market transition.
