I worked at Lumeris full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Used to be able to work from home. The department that does the most was stripped of that option. While other departments can have that option.

    Cons

Pay really sucks for CS. Benefits for employees are not helpful or beneficial. These supervisors, managers and VP need to stop hiring their buddies who aren’t knowledgeable about the company are department. This company is all about who you know and not about hiring those who are willing to learn the company and what duties are done day to day. Just hiring anybody that don’t anything. How do you feel comfortable doing a job and being leadership and don’t what you’re doing? Well I know why because they pay upper management a lot of money to the point they can’t budget in Customer Service pay. That depart only gets pizza parties as insensitive and left over from happy hour. This company treats Customer Service like crap. I’m glad i left after two months of working there.

I have been working at Lumeris full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Cafeteria on campus, adequate parking. The pay is good but then again the have to pay well they have burned so many good people the word is OUT.

    Cons

The CEO Presidents VP Directors Managers are of the elitist attitude and a congruent group of people who could care less about their employees. This is a very sick institution. Their growth is based on small peanuts or who no one else wants to bother to ascertain. Even these new onset agreement companies if they had the insight to the absolutely poor management they too would run. If you think communism is a dead idealism in the USA, you should work here and understand this is the management style. They enjoy pitting fellow employee against fellow employee, horrible work environment I have ever worked. I am currently gathering my resume together quickly. After 3 years I am running out of here. Take my advise Stay Clear of this poor ran hostile work environment. The absolute more incredible horrific department with the most amount of power is the HR department. The henchmen for the upper management. All positive reviews have been written by this department or by their drinking partners. When the HR department is literally bed partners with the CEO/Presidents you haven't a chance at a stable employment environment.

I worked at Lumeris for less than a year

    Pros

Free coffee, great food in the cafe, decent pay.

    Cons

Overall attitude of "well, it looks good on paper" and "if you don't know the answer, make something up." Upper management promotes the old "rule by fear, don't question your superiors" mindset.

I worked at Lumeris full-time for more than a year

    Pros

From a company standpoint the mission statement is great! Very knowledgeable teams, information sharing, great place to learn new technology if your in the right area! Depending on your team work flexibility/life balance can be very good!

    Cons

Mission statement is great, but the mission is never accomplished and is forever changing! Company direction …seems to not exist, favoritism is shown to certain employees! Culture of the company was supposed to be addressed but not really! If you like to travel for no apparent reason Lumeris is your place! Tons of upper management meetings that lead to more meetings to accomplish NOTHING! PTO is used for both vacation and sick time! Management is really poor as they talk a great game but it's really just talk! Spent 3-4 months/money to build out the Austin office only to close it down! What a waste. Health care benefits were a joke to be a healthcare company!

I worked at Lumeris full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Flexible work from home schedule and casual dress. Decent pay and PTO. Working for Essence was great, Lumeris, not so much.

    Cons

Upper management promises the moon and stars to clients but don't have the infrastructure to get the work done. Leaders are being hired with no health plan experience and their opinions are valued more than the people that helped build the company. HR is on a serious power trip and frequently get in the way of the work getting done. Communication is terrible. Toxic environment.

I worked at Lumeris full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

During your interview(s) you will be pumped with positivity and enthusiasm. It is a really good sell of how they company would "like" to be. It's a pretty laid back environment to work in depending on which department you are in. I was in IT and management was generally flexible when it came to flex time, needing to leave for doctor appt, etc... The company is trying to improve the work culture and hopefully someday they will figure out just how to do that.

    Cons

Unfortunately, for all the company's efforts it becomes quite obvious that they only have one goal, and that is to go public. Not a bad thing for the execs but not so great for those who actually have to do the work. Upper management is controlled by a single board member (investor) who is not really interested in the success of the company, but in the success of going public. While the company is taking steps to improve company culture, it is all for show. Read any recent articles on hi-tech companies and you will see that Lumeris is simply trying to implement the "hip" and "fad" practices of big name tech companies. If you look at the actual product offering that Lumeris has you will find that it is woefully lacking in current feature/function that even the most basic applications have. Very little effort has been put into making the product something that the user would want to use. The company's latest brainstorm is to switch technologies. They are not doing this because it is the right thing to do for the company but because this is what other hi-tech companies have done. The company attempts to bring in bright capable execs but don't listen to what these people have to say. Upper management is wearing blinders when it comes to what makes sense technically. Lumeris is not able to retain quality people because of the lack of sincerity in building a strong product and future for the company. A lot of very talented people have come and gone and there are still many talented people there. It is just a question of how long it takes for one to recognize the patterns of poor management and the unwillingness to improve for the longer term instead of the quick fix for going public. If you are considering becoming an employee here, please be sure to ask lots of questions about the direction the company is taking from a technical perspective. The sales pitch to join will sound very good but do the research to learn all you can about the company. Look at where the company was 4 years ago and look at where they are now. Read the reviews from years ago and compare them to the reviews being written most recently. Lumeris isn't a horrible place to work. Just don't set expectations too high. It is a great place to learn new skills that will make you more valuable later in your career. But as others have indicated on this site, it is best to see this company as a stepping stone to something more stable and meaningful. Internal politics is rampant and favoritism runs throughout the company. Unless you are joining the company as a result of knowing somebody on the inside, be prepared to protect yourself from managers who are only interested with their own agenda. Your teammates may or may not allow you to succeed. It's all in WHO you know not WHAT you know that matters. So from day one make sure you know who your manager favors and try to emulate everything those people do because it will be your only chance. Within the group I belonged to, if you weren't in the "in" crowd you would be sidelined to an existence of very boring and mindless tasks. There are worse companies to work for than Lumeris. Just be sure to know what you are getting into. When you interview with actual members of the team don't be afraid to ask pointed questions about the culture and what the person sees as pluses and minuses within the company. Try to talk to someone who has been with the company for more than a couple years.

    I worked at Lumeris

    Pros

Some very good, extremely hard-working employees. However, many of these employees have left the company or were laid off.

    Cons

Very poor upper management team that is NOT experienced at developing or managing the operations of a national company. Inability to execute and deliver a quality product on time. Total lack of client relationship skills. No respect for client or client's business needs. A constantly changing company vision that is focused only on how to maximize earnings of senior management/shareholders.
