I have been working at Lumileds full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

There is a lot of exciting innovation happening within the company. There are a great deal of new products and advancements happening, but most of the positives are overshadowed by the negatives.

    Cons

The culture needs to evolve with the company . Nothing has changed under the new management in terms of culture, and the work enviroment reflects that. There is no strucutre for collaboration or comradery. Also not a place for someone that wants to work with their manager to grow and work towards career path.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees about how they feel about work environment. Don't just listen to management. Ask the people that are in the office daily.

I worked at Lumileds full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great pay, exceptional colleagues, really interesting technology

    Cons

Non- existent leadership.... I mean zero. For years I had no idea why I was working on certain projects as they were just me-too products . Hundreds of projects not a single one of them made any financial sense. 1100 PM telecoms with China 4 nights a week. There is so much opportunity in the Bay Area why would anyone work at Lumileds?

    Advice to Management

I once heard a senior exec comment that the social media results can be fixed by hiring trolls to publish fake reviews. How can you give reasonable advice to that type of mentality?

I worked at Lumileds full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

This company has a good product that everyone wants and need, thus business is consistently good, thus rarely have layoffs. Good working conditions.

    Cons

I observed their system operated with favoritism, making it hard to excel, get a raise
and grow. Training given to favorites only!

    Advice to Management

HR department needs improvement, need to hire both males and females not only one of the two.

    Pros

People is very competitive and self - motivated , easy to work as a team, option to work from home,

    Cons

Micromanagement, sometimes expect your boss yell or talk to you disrespectful with the excuse of being normal in their culture. Change priorities for one minute to another leaving you with 100 projects halfway finished. Benefits are getting worst every year.

    Advice to Management

    Pay attention of personal rotation

I worked at Lumileds full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Legacy of innovation from HP roots with products most-copied by competitors.
Fast-paced work, technically challenging, exposure to broad markets
Dedicated working-level team members, collaboration across global locations

    Cons

Deeply political and narcissistic management failing to recognize and promote the real talent.
Finance-driven shortsightedness prohibits meaningful investments with longer term ROIs.
Continually marketing product that is not ready for production, failing to meet delivery and performance commitments to customers which stresses the operations organization and destroys hard-won customer relationships.
Truly horrendous HR that fails at practically every basic HR role

    Advice to Management

Finance guys: get the hell out of the way and let Engineering Seniors with real industry experience call the shots. Meet your commitments to customers!
Focus on what's needed to EARN revenue, not on counting and forecasting. Less discussion and more action...make decisions in a formal way, then GO (stop second-guessing decisions already made).
Establish world-class and full-service HR to attract and retain talent as well as to trim away the dead-wood.
Uproot ethnic nepotism that exists in certain key departments. (need strong HR)

    Cons

Lost competitive edges in recent years. Slow decision making. No coherent long term strategy in how to compete and grow the company. Becoming risk averse

    Advice to Management

Strive good balance between investment for the long term growth and short term financial goals
