I have been working at Luminex full-time

    Pros

I love working at Luminex. It is one of the best jobs that I have had. I work in the finance department and it is one of the most drama free and calm environments. It is usually pretty busy work wise but I would rather be busy than bored. Benefits are great and include parental paid time off, great 401k match, a employee stock plan and HR is constantly working to make things better for us. Work life balance for me... is what you make it and Luminex provides enough flexibility for you to maintain the balance.

    Advice to Management

Please continue to make Luminex a great place to work. It would be nice to have a work from home policy to allow telecommuting but overall great job.

I have been working at Luminex full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

I have now been at Luminex for over 10 years. I love it. Calm, no drama work environment, great benefits, growing company with upper management that communicates openly. HR works hard on providing a great benefits package and competitive compensation.

    Cons

In my opinion the R&D departments are the only ones that have some of the issues that I have read about here on Glassdoor.

    Advice to Management

Keep it up! Work with R&D to correct the issues noted in other reviews.

I have been working at Luminex full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

The customers, and most of the people at work.

    Cons

Some of the people, management lacks needed skills. Just like everyone else has said- Nothing changes, good people leave and the FSE are basically considered disposable, pay structure not according to the law, Texas mindset running the organization.

    Advice to Management

Don’t run an international company off the advice of Texas locals. Some in middle management think they they know it all, upper management stretched too thin to provide middle management the in depth training they severely require..it can be a cluster!! Calm periods seem like all will be well- but NO, I do not recommend- they don’t care about you- find another place to work, money isn’t everything and they don’t... actually pay that great! (I’ve found)

I have been working at Luminex full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Luminex is a bit of a Diamond in the Rough. We're growing by leaps and bounds, and with that will come growing pains. We're embarking on greatness, so pardon our dust as we're still working out the kinks! If you can handle a little discomfort at times, you'll do just fine here. - The Benefits are almost impossible to beat. PTO, Medical, Vision, and Dental are all great. In addition - you won't find a better... 401k matching plan. - Annual Bonus & Raises - My manager is outstanding and perhaps one of the best bosses I have ever worked for. Strong leadership skills combined with the keen ability to not just hear us out, but to listen to us and provide constructive feedback. - My coworker's not just at my location but across the company have always been courteous, helpful, and generally willing to lend a hand or answer a question. - There is always work to be done and a project up for grabs so if you like to stay busy, look no further! - The atmosphere as a whole is a positive one. Every employee will have their ups and downs, we'll have our complaints, but at the end of the day - I wouldn't want to work anywhere else. - Quarterly Meetings that keep employees updated and informed on large projects, sales, goals, and finances. The employees are always in the loop and I appreciate the transparency of it all. - They host Lunch and Learns, they offer Mentorship programs, courses that help you learn more about different divisions and the products.... This company is beating you with the Olive Branch and begging you to get involved, know and understand what they do, and if you need something - everyone has an open door, you just have to walk through it and speak up.

    Cons

There will be times where a Work/Life balance is difficult. This can be said about any company. Overtime will happen - but you'll typically see it on the horizon and be able to prepare for it. Depending on your department there may not be much room for growth. This does not mean you won't get a raise or be recognized for all you do and it doesn't mean you cannot look at changing departments. We are a company of... acquisitions and this has lead to high turnover at several of our sites. This can appear discouraging.

    Advice to Management

Keep moving forward and don't lose sight of the big picture. This company has great potential and is constantly improving. I would say that while turnover can be high, perhaps it's growing pains. I've watched beloved coworker's & friends leave, but I've also made new friends and watched as new and fresh talent has come in with fresh and exciting ideas.

    I worked at Luminex full-time

    Pros

The benefits are great. Decent 401k match. High salary for the industry.

    Cons

As many other people on this site have mentioned there are plenty of cliques and bullies. It is the wild wild west with everyone out for themselves. I find it comical the Luminex Rep is responding that they take bullying very seriously and it should be reported. I did file a report during my time there and guess what happened? That person was promoted! It's a shame that there is no room for growth and you are... bullied if you want to even attempted to advance your career. There is no work life balance. You are expected to be on all the time. I've been yelled at for not responding to emails at 8 pm. I lost countless vacation days because I was working instead of enjoying my time off. For any future employees or current ones that are looking to leave, Luminex is one of those companies that won't honor your 2 week notice. I had heard rumors that companies like this existed, never knew I made the mistake of working for one.

I have been working at Luminex full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Just retired after working at the Northbrook factory. I went through the ups and downs and mostly downs. Through acquisitions and dark days but the turn around in the last year has been nothing short of miraculous. The new plant leadership has delivered on every promis and I can almost say that I kind if wish I hadn’t retired (kidding). Anyways, keep it up. Northbrook has the recipe to be something special,... directed by a leader who truly has made it a mission to put people first. Best of luck!
