    "Apparently Nothing Ever Changes"

I worked at Luminex full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Luminex has some real jewels in their employees -smart dedicated people. Benefits were good and the location within Austin offers a lot from a quality of life perspective.

    Cons

I’ve read all the comments about bullying, politics, gossip and sexual harassment. Unfortunately until HR and the executive team remove the people driving these behaviors, no amount of “training” will help. It’s sad to see nothing has changed in almost 10 years. In fact the only reason I read these comments just now is because apparently the gossip and lies grow and follow employees years after they leave. The... opportunity at Luminex is not worth the complete lack of professionalism and personal stress of dealing with people that are so spiteful. There are some really talented good people there trying to do the right thing that realize there is no other choice but to work somewhere else if they would like to be treated fairly. The good news, is the grass is greener everywhere! Any place you find after Luminex will be like a dream come true...

I have been working at Luminex full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

    Great benefits, great time off

    Cons

There are unrealistic product development timelines, products still require a lot of work when they're sent out the door.

    Advice to Management

Allow your R&D staff to fully develop a product before sending it out the door.

I have been working at Luminex full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Good benefits package, especially the 401k match.

    Cons

Bullies are allowed to wreak havoc in this company, and it comes at a huge cost in terms of productivity and employee turnover. Gossip, cliques, drama, conniving...it’s a miracle any actual work ever gets done. HR is weak and bends to every squeaky wheel, and everyone knows this so non-aggressive employees avoid reporting legitimate complaints. Turnover is a major problem, too, as one quality, long-term employee... after another quits or falls victim to the rampant politics and backstabbing. It all creates a very stressful and depressing workplace.

    Advice to Management

Stop letting bullies and power politics get in the way of your company’s work. Take a zero tolerance stance on unnecessary workplace drama. You are losing or driving out some of the best you have, and it’s costing you, whether you realize it or not.

I worked at Luminex full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Good 401k match. Majority of employees work hard and want to make the company better.

    Cons

Former CEO knew of a serial sexual harasser and did nothing until it became so obvious to the majority of the company. Current CEO goes after former employees with bogus non-compete agreements that they make all new employees sign. HR lies about the length of the non-compete agreement. CFO is a good old boy who spends most of his time covering his butt. Company buys "me too" technology and claims to be innovative.

    Advice to Management

Move into at least the 20th century. I know it will take you much longer to make into the 21st century.

    Pros

I’m glad to report that my management DID listen and now the growth of our field is reversing its unhealthy course to a better path. Opportunities were created and more will be coming in the future. It’s great to enact a change to make a difference in the positive direction. Plus our CEO spoke with with our team and really delivered a very thought out and detailed road map about our future and answered an6 questions... brought forth. I really good start to the year.
